Egg Cup Cup 2019
The Egg Cup knock out cup this year is being run to double elimination rules starting in game week 23 - you have to lose twice before you're out. The draw will be seeded based on total points on the end of week 22 (ie Monday night). The top 8 will get byes through to round two to played on game week 24.
Game week 25 (an FA Cup weekend) will see the 16 losing teams play off. Eight go through to another round in GW26 (a double game week), which will leave four in the losers half of the draw.
The winners have their quarter final in week 27, and the four losers there play the remaining four in the losers half in week 28 and then another round for the losers in week 29 reducing them to two teams.
A week off then until the top semi finals in week 31. The two semi final losers join the other two losers to play in week 32 and the two victors from those games play in week 35 to see who plays the next loser.
The winners' "final" is played on week 36. The remaining two losers play off in week 37 for a place in the grand final in week 38. If the top half winner wins the Grand Final they will be champion but if not they still have their second chance and an extra game week 39 will be needed to decide the champion once and for all.
Lots of words there so hopefully the visual version of that will make more sense when I can post it.

The first round ties have now been set. See below for details of who you're facing (or not if you're in the top 8 in overall scoring)

Well good luck running what looks like the most complicated cup game in history!

Very nice competition, thanks Mystery!
If we are drawn against a team in the other league, is there a way of seeing the make-up of their team?

It's possible because I can do it but whether that's only because of Google Sheets wizardry I'll have to find out.zipnolan wrote:Very nice competition, thanks Mystery!

I've always liked the double elimination format since I used to play in it for online cribbage games #showingmyagehappyhoppy wrote:Well good luck running what looks like the most complicated cup game in history!

Cheers. Not sure who I am playing (graphic doesn't really work in Tapatalk) but I'm confident I'll win and, if not, I get to live again I believe!

The first two rounds results. The season long top scoring teams are holding their consistency.

Re: Egg Cup Cup 2019
I don't know. You certainly finished in the top 2. In much the same way I'm hoping to finish in the top 12 in my division.Spinynorman wrote:I'm not entirely sure but I don't think I'm doing very well.
Anyhoo, here's the scores. The losers here are now out for good. The winners face off against each other in the lovely double game week 26.

Egg Cup Cup 2019
Glad to be out.
God knows how a team I beat in the first round can then beat me in the third round after getting a bye in the second round for losing in the first round.
People don’t half over complicate things.

I also appear to be first out after winning in the first round.
Oh well, at least I don't have to try and understand it now!

Re: Egg Cup Cup 2019
I don't think you're out. You just join us in the "once-defeated" pool.
EDIT: Oh, I see Mystery says you were out, so maybe you are. I didn't think that was how double-elimination worked, though.
