That 15 mins of fame in the 1st prize got my attention. I wonder if they take requests as to the "1000 news outlets" to receive the press release!

I've just read the whole of this thread and the bulk of the on-site rules - can't wait to see the white flags flapping (also played the real thing once or twice in the past - still have the board even).

edit: Must point out: the clipping above missed off the semi-finalist prizes (just CC medals) and 100 randomly awarded consolation prizes of free entry to the next cup four months hence (awarded to round 1 deadbeats only).

yeah I'm mulling over getting a premium membership but I can foresee a tribunal where I'm having to defend my obvious lack of commitment to my employer and my flagrant disregard of company policy in regard to internet usage

The old maps (when I was a kid) had the Bay of Tonking (with the "g"), I did ask and apparently I don't have any claims to the land

So its my go but I'm being a bit dim but how do I roll the dice or even take my turn. I know how to play Risk and I have read how to take my turn but cant see where

Finsimbo, to take your turn, you have to scroll down the page a little where you'll see a button. Click that and you should be able to play!

I forget the wording on the button, but I'm 100% confident you'll know the button I mean when you see it!

Then, you'll be given a troop deployment allocation with drop-menus for choosing where to deploy your troops (and in what quantities).

Then, the attack drop-menus will show offering you areas to attack from and areas to conquer.

Then, there's 2 buttons. One offers single rolls, the other offers the apparently better option of attack until you take the city / your troops run out.

The dice are unforgiving at times. Fear them.

And you get more buttons as the game proceeds, until you eventually decide it's time to end your turn.

Try to get one victory under your belt (to get your card).

As you've played risk before, I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it. I know I'm screwed from my first attempt but I think I've now a clearer idea of what to do re dice dynamics and what you've got to do early game to give yourself a chance. And of course, watch out for those "farmers" who've won zillions of games...

first to go in an assassin game, took out chewie in 2 assaults, game over

I'm now active in 22 games of differing kinds on all kinds of map, I haven't tried freestyle yet as I can't get my head around those particular rules


tried a speed game yesterday on a classic map, didn't realise that speed actually meant about 1hr and I had to go out
mid game to pick up a christmas tree , ended up having to come off a junction early on the bypass to pull over and check the game on my phone, and then tried to explain to wifey about trying to defend oceania which obviously didn't go down too well

That has to go down as legend status... my missus thinks I have a bad addiction to CC (I am in over 100 active games)
but have never pulled over on the motorway to take my turns as she would probably commit me.

Logged into Game 10146311, and think I had 7+ hours to take my turn (my first, opening turn).

Wanted a little think about it, left it for a half hour or so and found I'd been logged out on my return. Turn forfeited, no card!

I doubt I'll have a chance now in this one either.

7 and a half hours for the round, one hour to make your turn unless it's within the last hour of the round then you have whatever is left of the round time to play, so log in with one minute of the round to play then you have one minute to make your move(s).

If you don't get KO'd in the meantime you will get the reinforcements due to you from the missed move. Miss another and you'll get kicked out of the game.
