The clocks have gone back and the pumpkins and fireworks have been extinguished, and still no managerial casualties this season...

Jose and Colin seem to have seen off any immediate threat, so Joker and Sparky now probably in the firing line. Who will blink first and play the Big Sam card?

I thought it was the Moyes card

Maybe DM to Fulham and SAM to Soton?

I'm not sure if Moyes quite justifies the "firefighter" label, though he kept West Ham up last season... he gets himself on that list through being experienced and British, but I still think he's a manager more suited to building something over a longer period of time, as he did in his earlier career at Preston and then Everton. Still, managers in their mid-50s onwards do tend to become odd job men, if they succeed in keeping themselves on the merry-go-round at all.

He might tick the box for Fulham though, where they clearly have attacking quality so just need a bit of organisation at the back. It's harder for a passing side like them to go straight to Sam-ball.

Sounds like they’re going German... having just got rid of one veteran British manager it perhaps makes sense they don’t just opt for another, so Allardyce, Moyes and O’Neill stay on the shelf... always a gamble throwing someone with no background in the English game straight into a relegation battle, but you get the upside potential for thinking outside the usual box as well.

Should really have waited a week or two til Arry was out of the jungle.

Despite him being local: didn't he leave them to go back to fleece Pompey?

I guess that Soton have proper Accountants and don't want him and his brown envelopes anywhere near the place

Would the accountants let him buy Peter Crouch with a brown envelope of smuggled dingo dollars?

Maybe if 'Onest 'Arry bought him with his own "cash", but Crouch would want wages?

Does 2018/19 finish and 2019/20 begin with the last game of this season

Or

Does 2018/19 finish and 2019/20 begin with the first game of next season

Or

Does 2018/19 finish with the last game of this season and 2019/20 begin with the first game of next season and the period in between is some manager sack race free zone?

Hughton goes... a bit harsh given what he’s done there, but seems to have run out of ideas and they faced the prospect of being relegation certainties next season. Owner Tony Bloom is a poker champion so knows when to fold his hand...

Will Ole still be the hot seat at Man U come February next year ?, as things stand I doubt he will be unless he gets Gareth Bale.
