Maybe there were 2 possibilities somewhere (even though that would be odd for this type of quiz)?

So did I! I think there must be an American answer and a British answer to that question.

Without giving too much away - I gave the 'GA' answer, thinking of a role alongside 'DD'? Is that the question we're thinking of?

Just one that I really should have got today. Impressed with those top two scores!

PS We need to watch out for quizzes on Sporcle that are US-oriented, there were 4-5 in there today that were US-specific.

I know what you mean (and I picked today's quiz!) but knowing the answers to those US questions helps separate players in the scoring table. Today's quiz wasn't a good one for guessing unlike some other formats they have on their site.

I think there is a real skill to picking a suitable Sporcle - if you are no good at geography then some of the quizzes this week were really difficult. I know in the past that I set a UK-centric quiz which disadvantaged some players. Today I worried about picking an 80s-based quiz as it is unfair on youngsters. I would also feel slightly guilty picking a really specialist subject.

They basically reverted to their original African name or something like that.
As I read somewhere - eSwatini in their language means ''the place of the people of Mswati" - that lower case "e" is a prefix meaning "to or from".

I don't think that people should be too worried about what type of quiz they pick (maybe as while as they are not too specific and unrelatable to too many people here - like, I don't know, for example cities of Costa Rica or whatever :D). UK-centric quizzes gives a bit of a disadvantage to people like me, who do not live in UK, but they at least are suitable, as majority of people here do live in UK.

The problem here was probably that we had too many geography related quizzes in a row at the beginning so it disadvantaged some players more

Was why I set something a bit silly when I did it. Not really favouring anyone other than a quick typist I suppose.

Morning all! No doubt after my whinging about some of the earlier Sporcles, everyone is going to hate this one

Anyway, I'm mixing it up a bit with a totally different subject area, and it's one that sort of feels appropriate for xmas time. This time I suspect my score may not be the worst (despite it rejecting one of my answers on a technicality!), but let's see...

I was very tempted to go with a 'Brazilian states' one, which would I reckon have pretty much guaranteed me a win for that day. Geography and todays one are two of my favourite categories.

Probably a bit unethical to put one up that really is your 100% specialist subject, although I'd expect everyone's to be something that they know a reasonable amount about unless they just go for a completely random one.

Anything other than geography is fine by me.

Should've got 2 more (1 obvious miss, the other I typed in 4 of the 5 words in the title but not close enough to be given the mark); other 3 - I've never heard of.
