Don't think they are coming near me this year (boo). Judging from the vague maps seen so far they are starting on the edge of Cumbria and heading away, not doing the Lake District at all. Miserable cowards.

yes it is the MILK RACE of days gone-by. The form of the race not yet decided but I need some names to manage/chaperone the teams which are not yet known in detail. Above are the ones who have started the list. Why not add yours ?

Race date. 3 to 12 September. Starting in Cornwall, ending in Aberdeen.

Stage 6 (Carlisle to somewhere Geordieish) doesn't come near my house but does enter the Lake District briefly so I may pop along. No decents climbs though til it heads East into the (inferior) Pennines.

No stages near me this year
there was a stage a few years back that started at my local park. One of the guys in the cycling club happened to see the Death Star (Sky team bus) parked outside a local hotel on is way back from work, so we cycled down there early the next morning - when the team came out to the bus they were chatting and posing for photo's (including Cav and Wiggins). Was no trouble at all for them - just genuinely nice guys

One of the stages this year starts in Aberaeron. Played in a sevens (rugby) tournament there back in the 80's which finished with a particularly messy night locked in a local pub Seeing the name is giving me flashbacks!

the route for this years race is known but the final team line-up is not. It looks almost certain that I will have to press-gang FISO readers to look after teams because volunteers are very thin on the ground. Just like the TDF.

What is Jubel ? The official beer. Never heard of it.

barely half a dozen FISOers have responded to the call for manager/chaperones so mass 'pressing' will be likely when the full team line up is known, which cannot be far off.
Once the full football juggernaut gets rolling on 13th August there will be 3 weeks before the race so things may liven up a little !

the third instalment of the pre race 10 mins or so video's is now available to view and it shows some of the hopeful riders with great uk scenery and bits of their training. Thanks to Talkie Toaster for breaking the ice, who will follow ?

The field of 18 teams is now known. The 7 FISOers who have responded to date get first pick (48hrs should be sufficient) then I will print a list of which teams are still available to manage/chaperone. 48hrs starts now, expires 12 noon, Wednesday, 11 August.
