Joining Predictor Game

Post by SamD » 14 Jan 2018, 02:36

@ owenclass: as Paul Hardcastle might state, you're number 19.

For info, only relevant result so far is Philadelphia Eagles 15-10 Atlanta Falcons; no one picked latter.
Second divisional play-off between Patriots and Titans is approaching half-time and looks close.

Thanks to all who are participating. Have been formulating this competition over the last few weeks with the view of providing interest each month from a variety of events. Feedback on format, content and points scoring is welcome at any stage of year and game.

Oz opener

Post by SamD » 27 Jan 2018, 13:07

First event: Australian Open, Women's Singles Final:
Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki beat Romanian top seed Simona Halep to win her first Grand Slam title.
The second seed won 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 6-4 to finally land a major title at the 43rd attempt.
In the Fiso game, no one picked the winner but five will earn a point for the runner-up.

Next event is completed tomorrow: Men's Singles Final between Roger Federer and Marin Cilic.
Second seed has been selected by a dozen entrants while the Croatian is friendless.

Event C: American Football Super Bowl features New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.
Seven FISOns are on the Patriots next Sun, 4 Feb.

First full league table should be available shortly after.

Hi Sam

I was on Cilic - those runner up points could be key in the final standings

Multi-Sport Predictor

Apologies; haven't set up spreadsheet yet so simply scrolled through picks for first three events to produce Sat's draft update. Hence Cilic miss.

All should be right in a week's time when first leaderboard covering events A, B & C is posted here.

2018 Multi-Sport Predictor update: 8 events of 26

Post by SamD » 25 May 2018, 18:55

March
Three picked Native River in Cheltenham Gold Cup: The Big Lewandowski, morganb and polarbear.
Another trio selected Ireland to be Six Nations champions: dezcon, kcjonze and bspittles.

April
None of us was on Patrick Reed in The Masters but ten earned a place point.
And no one managed to find a top four finisher in the Grand National, even with the reserve.
Total medals won by UK nations in Commonwealth Games was 65 so a dozen claim three points.

Standings after eight of 26 events
The Big Lewandowski and dezcon are the new frontrunners with ten points.
Two others sit on nine: morganb and kcjonze.

League table shows selections and points earned to end-April.
Note tiebreaker is most event wins, then earlier entry.
Next update follows event 12, the Champions League Final at the end of May.

So dezcon, with 19, opens up a four-point gap at the top of the table.
Boddington, morganb and polarbear are next, with four others bunched on 14.
Reminder that tiebreak is greater number of wins, than earlier entry.

Remaining four events will be tallied this week to finalize the two prize winners.

Well I didn't see that coming!

Thanks for all the excellent 'behind the scenes of the Museum' admin work you do Sam on all these various Fantasy tournaments and your ongoing technical help to me with TFF Spreadsheets etcetera.

I look forward to my brew in my new FISO Mug.

Cheers.

Des :)

On the £22 prize Sam, can I suggest you keep this and put it down as my entry fee to the 2019-20 FISO Two-Foot Challenge TFF Super League.

And don't bother sending the FISO Mug as I will personally pick it up from you when we visit from Nottingham, to be arranged in spring.

Thanks again.

Just to let you know that my mug turned up safe and well today - many thanks.

Thanks for running this competition, it took a lot of guesswork on my part to come second!

Is it true that there won't be a 2019 version?

If anyone would like their fix of multi-sport predictions for 2019 then I run an off FISO competition

It's £10 to enter and all cash is paid out in prizes at the end of the year

The winners from 2015 and 2017 were both from FISO and there were 4 regular posters in last year's competition

If you are interested then PM me with your email address and I'll send you the details

The deadline for entries is midnight on Friday 1st February

Multi-Sport Predictor pause

Post by SamD » 31 Jan 2019, 17:42

@ morganb and other previous entrants:
Am not running 2019 version (hoping to relocate after 33 years in Purley so time is in short supply).

Note, however, that tonight is deadline for sportsmeister's year-long ante-post prediction game.

Last call for the 2019 competition - deadline is midnight on Friday 1st February

PM me with an email address if you would like me to send you details - I reckon you can put together an entry in an hour

Can anyone from FISO follow in Ashers footsteps from 2017 and nigel1305 from 2015 and win the competition?
