I think he might have stood just a little too close to that burning cocktail of drugs.

Dare I say surprisingly classy as well... he's never struck me as a player who would be involved in this sort of thing but I guess you never can tell. Bet his manager's not too happy however...

Well, not always, to my mind at least. Like anything that could overly excite specific sections of the crowd it is a bad idea. Of course, normally it's not an issue but it would seem less fair (and would provoke a lot of anger) if it were used selectively.

Whether it's a good rule or not it's a much clearer cause of punishment than a lot of other things and players know what will happen if they do it so they only ever have themselves to blame.

Possibly could have given away a slice of his obscene wages to the fifty in question ? Set up a charitable trust fund ? Irrigation project ? Kids out of gangs and so on ?

I suppose it's unlike the "worlds best player ever" to draw attention to himself.

Bloke is talented but also a complete nob.

I look at it slighty differently in so much as it's not Zlatan's responsibility to solve the problem alone. Also, I'm sure he does charitable fund raising for other causes.

I had 15 removable tattoos on my body, they are the names of real people who are suffering from hunger in the world,” Ibrahimovic said on Sunday. “[While] those tattoos have gone now, these people are still here ... I hope that you can see them through me.

I suppose any awareness is better than none - just not sure it's that great a gesture.

[but I'm one those miserable cynics that would probably moaned if he'd given £500k to the cause and asked why it wasn't £750k].

The story about Charlton has been updated now in eagle's link.

Full video here:

To celebrate the announcement that club is providing grass roots footballers with the chance to hire The Valley during May, the club filmed a cheeky CCTV viral to highlight that office teams, Sunday league teams or a group of friends enjoying a kick-about can 'score' for real on the hallowed turf.

The whole story should be moved to the 'modern life rubbish' thread.
A two bob football club imagines their turf is hallowed?
The most notable event there was The Who playing live in 1974.

The Who's second album was called "A Quick One".

Later albums included "It's Hard" and "Who's Next".....

All those horrendous 'body-positive' people have done is added to his 'body shaming' woes with the far worse 'Arsenal fan shaming' woes. Well done....

Trump sits at No. 2 among GOP presidential candidates in the latest CNN/ORC national poll. He told Lemon he is surprised only that he's trailing Jeb Bush, not that he's doing so well.
It can't just that we've got a non-US perspective that makes this seem odd?! Surely after Palin even the GOP would realise this is a terrible idea? :?

And Bush etc.; they were all on my mind as I typed that but I'm sure they all had better PR. Whatever the case Trump and his ilk are so unbelievingly unelectable I can see why the Democrats are loving it.

Problem is Clinton and other Dems are massively in bed with corporations - the best we can hope for is a Bernie Sanders type (however much I disagree with some of his politics, he does seem to be a step apart from the rest of those goons)

I don't buy that argument. They're ALL in bed with corporations. Just look at the senators who are most anti climate change legislation - they're all in the pocket of the oil companies, Kock brothers etc. That's the way U.S. politics works unfortunately.
