It'll turn out to rubbish because McDonald's will win the court case and will be back in there.

then the two threads can be merged, but for now it would be nice to think that Mcd's would not be welcome somewhere

This thread is doomed! I tell ya!

but it is a good story and hopefully a darned expensive folly for McD and not Milan.

Why, because Groomy will come in saying how nutrious and good for you a Mcd's is, and how there is more calories in dust than a big mac? ? :?

Up until about 10 years ago here in Jersey we didn't have McDs, BK or KFC to worry about. All fast food was great. Now it's cheap instead. That's really not progress.

If you get dust from the floor in McDs there are more calories in it. Especially the one just outside St Malo

Still, the Zinger Tower Burger is definitely evidence in favour of this thread's title

I try not to eat much fast food but of late, I've been like a pig in shit eating delicious wholesome meal after delicious wholesome meal.

All in the name of 'weight gain'.

Maybe this thread could have legs!

How about the fact that we get frustrated at a weekend without three or four live HD widescreen Premier League matches to watch... 30 years ago it would be a case of waiting all season for the FA Cup Final to come round, to watch on a crappy little square box!

Despite my presence here I'm not much of a footy fan so not for me but put it this way. I still remember the first day I discovered our new home had Eurosport but not only that they had bike GPs. A whole world of new motor sport awesomeness opened up. Wouldn't have been to the French F1 GP and the Cardiff speedway GP without. That little box done good

In the same vein I liked the way that Totnes always stood up against Costa opening a branch there.

Sadly they lost. I guess the crux is whether anyone goes there, although with so many tourists I suspect it's inevitable that it does ok.

Tesco are the worst though. High streets decline, Tesco comes in, high streets never recover.

Hold on, we're getting back to modern life is rubbish already...

Went in my 1st ever Costa this week whilst down in Chedder, only as it had a toliet and free parking for when we went on a walk.

Just not the same as the family run cafe's you get

I don't think I have ever been in a Starbucks or a Costas.
Not sure I've even seen a Starbucks in Amsterdam but there must be one.

Some of those gifs are absolutely amazing.

Particularly liked the karate takedown and the aquaplaning motorcyclist.

Nice one MvL :)

Only problem is the page takes a darned while to load up! ;)

I live just off a street that prides itself on its sense of community and independent shops. Tesco wanted to open a 'Metro' shop in the middle of a number of independent food shops, grocers etc. - they were strongly opposed but inevitably got it in the end. But it always makes me proud to walk past and see the Tesco almost completely deserted and the independents still doing a roaring trade :D

Think a lot of so called sportspeople could learn a bit from that Zanardi story.

You get a lot of people who go on about "that made me cry/bought a tear to my eye" and I often think, n'ah nice story though.

That story genuinely did bring a tear to my eye, quite wonderful
