you've definitely missed a golden opportunity for a matching beer/music combo there...

quite scary when key albums from your youth turn, 25, 30, 35 years old.

DM - 25 years, Doolittle 30 years and just ordered the 40th anniversary reissue of Unknown Pleasures (not 100% sure whether to get it or not to be honest - bit of a gimmick maybe and would prefer if Hooky was involved not just the NO half, but ordered it in the end anyway)

Beatles stuff seems old to me though.

The "first heavy metal album" (Black Sabbath) was recorded in 69 plus you had all the stuff like Velvet Undergoung and The Stooges. "It's 1969 Ok".... well, it was 50 years ago Iggy....

Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and King Crimson all had one, two or even three albums out before the seventies.

Spooky.

It's a good point. However: "India pale ale (IPA) is a beefed-up version of pale ale, made using more hops and with a higher alcohol content. Created in England, the name is a result of its popularity with British troops stationed in India in the 19th century, when the subcontinent was still a British colony".

Well there you go.

I also know that Porter is named after the porters at one of the London markets (Billingsgate? Smithfield?) who drank it.

So was Stout so named because fat blokes liked it? And was Bitter named after it's popularity with Everton fans?

A couple on Brewdog tonight. I tried their "alcohol free" (actually 0.5%) Nanny State the other day. Wasn't quite what I expected. Quite a dark, hoppy, proper beer. OK for low/non alcohol but I won't bother again.
