Exterior Post drop box

Post by Beerfuelledman »

I'm thinking if acquiring one of these in the run up to Black Fri and Xmas shopping online. Does anyone have any experience of them?

Some come with a barcode for delivery men to scan and confirm delivery. Is this essential? And if a box doesn't have one can they be acquired? The internet is a bit bereft of answers...!

Presumably they need some mechanism for getting in it? So isn’t that a given? But how do you share it with any/all delivery people? Do they all have a means of reading it?

There must be at least 5-6 different companies that deliver stuff to mine.

I decided to crack on and get this one.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/METZ-Large-Let ... erbox+Drop

Parcels go in the top and drop in so there can be no 'fishing'. In the run up to Black Friday and internet shopping for Christmas I hate running to the post office all the time !!

Where have you asked for it to be left if you are not in?

On a serious note I would love to get one myself but haven't got much room at the front of the house.

Some of the local YODEL drivers will use a neighbour; theyre not bad. Amazon I think let you specify one of the shops in town where it can be left which is slightly better. Royal Mail dont even try and put Amazon packages through the letterbox sometimes and just go straight back to the sorting office.

I should clarify I am also on Letterbox No 3 with my dog attempting (when Im home and hes in the house) to bite the postmans hand and has started to leave teethmarks in the PVC door insert  So an outside Postbox seemed an idea for a few reasons.

Good idea to be honest, actually might suggest it to the fam as our local PO is a pain in the arse.
