Post by Zimmerman »

This came up elsewhere, but seemed like an interesting conversation to have.

I tended to sit on the fence answering must questions slightly agree/disagree.
I dare say my mrs might have suggested 'strongly' was more appropriate for some.

35 though I put a lot at 'slightly' when they could have been 'very'....

Though I am a bit nervous about engaging in this social chit chat so freely. Again, answered a few with slightly when might have been definitely. Must get back to my coffee, as I always have one at this time of day.

19, thought it would be higher! I think my ease in social situations tilted my score too much.

Looking at the bottom of the test for some questions it didn't matter whether you answered slightly or strongly as it gave the same score. I'd also say that being over 50 there are things that I'm more comfortable with now compared to 10/20/30 years ago.

19 - expected it to be higher! Not sure if I'm happy or sad about this.

Would have expected a question about are you male or female as surely women are more adept in social situations

I got 24. Didn't see the explanation for scores in the site, so here are explanations:

Basically the range for possible answers is 0 to 50. The information below shows you the different ranges as recorded from others sitting this same AQ quiz over the years.

0-11 low result – indicating no tendency at all towards autistic traits.
11-21 is the average result that people get (many women average around 15 and men around 17)
22-25 shows autistic tendencies slightly above the population average
26-31 gives a borderline indication of an autism spectrum disorder. It is also possible to have aspergers or mild autism within this range.
32-50 indicates a strong likelihood of Asperger syndrome or autism.

I'm sure if there's a test out there for masochistic tendencies you'd get the highest marks on the forum!

Better to have average bollocks than small ones or deformed ones?

When I answered the first question I moved the button right to left 28 times, I had to repeat this for the rest of the questions. This may have skewed my results somewhat.

I only moved it right and left once on the first question, then twice on question 2. Wasn't til Q28 that I had to move it 28 times. But that's just me......

Makes no difference to the score whether you put 'slightly' or 'very'.

I guess you'll get a slightly higher score just from being a bit introverted rather than extrovert. I hate routine and planning, which is why I come out low I guess.

Good fantasy football managers would tend to come up fairly high I would think - planning and routine.

Not sure whether use of social media (like Feeso) is an indicator or not. There are people on here who clearly have difficulty in interacting with others although plenty of others that seem to be pretty gregarious as well.

In the news this week with a lot of adults now seeking a diagnosis https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59352983

I re-did the test for a 28 so pretty consistent.

I re-did the test then hit the 'I can't be arsed to work it out manually' button.

So that's a 43 on the Lazy Barsteward scale

(Still think my previous 35 is a fair score based on the indications but, to be honest, may be higher now? - but I live by the 'you are who you are' school of life and don't seek /need any labels. Happy in my skin.)
