Brendan Rodgers admits Liverpool will need to assess the fitness of Daniel Sturridge ahead of the trip to Norwich City this weekend – though his injury is not considered serious.

Rodgers told reporters in his pre-match press conference: "He may struggle for the weekend.
"It's not too serious and won't keep him out for too many weeks, but he may be out for the weekend."
"We'll assess it more over the next couple of days, but that's how we're looking at it at the moment."

on Abou Diaby…
He's back in full training - that's good news. He needs to play a few games but this week he looked good in training.
on Laurent Koscielny…
Koscielny had a knock on his Achilles but he should be available for Saturday.

Update on Lallana and full back injuries/recovery for Liverpool:

"Adam [Lallana] will be in the squad, for sure," Rodgers told journalists gathered at Melwood. "He has looked fantastic in training.

"Of course he is well short of match fitness but in training for the last couple of weeks he has been exceptional."

Asked for a general fitness update, the Northern Irishman continued: "We'll see closer to the game. Young [Alberto] Moreno twisted his ankle, which was unfortunate, but he has been recovering well this week.

"Glen Johnson is probably the one that it could be difficult for, with a thigh problem.

"Jose Enrique has been back training for over a week, and looks very strong and fit. But, again, he hasn't had a lot of game time. We'll see over the next 48 hours.

(note Flanagan is still out so Manquillo is only fit full back. If none of the above are fit then maybe Sakho or Agger at LB - purely a murf guess)

Mark Hughes has confirmed that Stoke forward Peter Odemwingie is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The 33-year-old Nigerian was carried off on a stretcher during the 1-0 win at Manchester City on Saturday and requires surgery.

As yet no timescale has been put on his recovery but the club have not included Odemwingie in their 25-man Premier League squad, meaning he cannot be registered to play until January at the earliest.

Hughes told the club's website, http://www.stokecityfc.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;: "It's a significant injury and unfortunately it's a long-term one. It will be a long road back but we wish him well."

More about explaining in advance a weak League Cup team than providing FF-friendly injury news but it is of moderate note.

Brendan Rodgers: "Jordan Henderson [hip strain] picked up a knock so we need to assess where he's at. And Philippe Coutinho [groin problem, missed weekend game] is highly unlikely for tomorrow as well."

Snippets from manager press conferences as reported on BBC
(I'll keep topping this post up as they come in rather than adding new posts. I don't want a stupidly high post count)

Everton: "Steven Pienaar is recovering really well. The same with Seamus Coleman. It's too early to tell if they're going to be fit for Saturday. Ross Barkley is recovering quicker than we thought. Oviedo and Gibson are fully fit."

WHam: "Cheikhou Kouyate will be out for a number of weeks and that's a bit of a blow to us. After that we've got no new injuries. Kevin Nolan and Matt Jarvis are back training for the first time today but they won't be available for Saturday. Andy Carroll could be December, could be a little earlier depending on how the rehabilitation goes."

QPR: "Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch are not available for sure. We're waiting to see if Niko Krancjar and Sandro will be available. Sandro says he didn't injure himself celebrating.

Crystal Palace: "I think Marouane Chamakh will be available. He was close last weekend but we felt it was not worth the risk. Other than that, everybody is fit."

Liverpool: Daniel Sturridge is responding well to treatment. He is near to fitness. If he doesn't make Saturday he won't be far away after that." http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest- ... ge-fitness" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; includes: "We've got a number of injuries that we're just going to give every chance to. Obviously the game is 48 hours away. Daniel and a number of others we'll assess nearer the time."

AVilla: "[Benteke is] getting closer. Next week we will see how he is for the Man City game."

MancU: without central defenders Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans for their home game against West Ham on Saturday. "We have nine injuries and one suspension with Blackett. The younger players can have their chance now. Evans's bone is bruised. Smalling left yesterday's session because he had stiff legs. I won't take risks with players.

At the risk of further increasing my post count, here are today's snippets from manager press conferences as reported on BBC
(I'll keep topping this post up as they come in rather than adding new posts. I still don't want a stupidly high post count)

Arsenal: "Mathieu Flamini is back in the squad but Nacho Monreal is still out. Per Mertesacker is available for the weekend - I don't think there will be a problem with him."

MancU (pt2): "All three of my right-sided centre-halves are out, so I'll have to go to the youth system."

ManCiteh: "Stefan Jovetic and Fernando are out. They will be ready next week. Samir Nasri also has a groin problem. Sergio Aguero and David Silva are OK."

Chelsea: Jose Mourinho confirms Diego Costa will play against Aston Villa on Saturday. "We have no new injuries.... Tomorrow I play with the team that is the best one..... Can Diego finish the game and be in a condition to play in Lisbon 48 hours later? I do not know. If he doesn't play against Sporting on Tuesday, I will play Remy or Drogba."

Rooney facing 3 match ban for red card.

Ramsey (hamstring) and Arteta (calf) subbed - look like 2 to 3 week injuries to me - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29398217" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Danny Rose also subbed due to injury in the Arsenal v Spurs match but not sure how bad.

Christian Benteke could make Aston Villa return against Manchester City
Striker Benteke has been out of action since April after suffering a serious Achilles injury.
The Belgian international is back in training and is progressing well with his fitness, meaning he could come into consideration for the visit of City on Saturday.

Arsenal's Ramsey, 23, has a hamstring injury and is expected to be out for up to a month.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said the hamstring injury would initially rule Ramsey out of games with Galatasaray on Wednesday and Chelsea on 5 October.
