Speaking about the injuries to two of Manchester City’s key players, Guardiola said, “Foden will still be out for a while. We have to be careful, or it will be longer. Kevin is still out. I think he will come back a bit quicker than Phil apparently, but both are still out for a while"

Andy Robertson will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the ankle injury he suffered against Athletic Club at Anfield on Sunday. The full-back limped out of the action at the end of the first half of the 1-1 draw after sustaining a knock while attempting to block a cross. Robertson will be further assessed tomorrow to identify the severity of the problem.

Jürgen Klopp told his post-match press conference: “We obviously don’t know in the moment how serious it is. It was pretty painful and that’s why Andy went off. You probably saw it on the TV pictures better than we did, but he got the ball, the ball on the front of his foot, [and] twisted the ankle.

“The pain settled already, but we cannot say anything further without further assessment tomorrow. He has to get a scan and then we will know more.”

There is some confusion over exact dates but Harry Kane is isolating (at the Spurs 'lodge'?) after a Caribbean holiday. The earliest release MIGHT be today if he passes a test on day 5 (today) IF he got back on Tuesday. All a bit hazy....

Wasn't around for today's pre-season game and hasn't trained with the team.

Spurs boss: "Harry is with us. He has to quarantine, he's in the lodge but he's training. He already had the first day with the sports scientists. He's with us," said the former Wolves boss.
"I didn't speak today because today was a match but we have a training session tomorrow. Hopefully, socially distanced, I will speak with Harry."

Liverpool (website) updates:

Andy Robertson: “Scan suggests nothing too major but there’s some ligament damage which will need to mend. I will be grafting every day so I can help the team again sooner rather than later.”
Klopp's take: "....think we got lucky, it will not be too long. I’m not sure [if] before the international break or after the international break, it’s difficult in these situations. But not too long." Also referenced Tsimikas, implying confirmation he'll play at LB.

Curtis Jones will not be available for this weekend's Premier League opener after sustaining a concussion on Monday.
Klopp has confirmed Jones is now feeling well again but will not resume training until after Saturday’s trip to Norwich City in line with concussion protocols.

Klopp was able to report Liverpool have no other fresh injury concerns three days out from the beginning of the 2021-22 campaign.

Villa 'presser':

Dean Smith: "We are not too sure about Ollie (Watkins) at the moment, if he’s pain-free today then he will train, if not then he won’t be involved.
"Leon (Bailey) has had to isolate but he will be available for the squad on Saturday. He’s a top player and we’re really pleased that he’s here.
"Emi Buendía has had a slight injury but he’s available. He’ll bring the creativity and a spark.”

Newcastle press conf:

Goalies- "Martin Dubravka is not fit and it doesn't look as if Karl Darlow is right with his episode he's been suffering with Covid and for any young people out there not having this jab, this is a prime example, he has been in hospital for over a week, dropped a stone in weight and its knocked him around. So, Freddie Woodman will get his chance. He had been patient and when someone falls down with injury and illness it opens the door."

Also Willock having a medical. Eligible to play if signed and sealed by noon.

Few more bits from press conferences etc-

Man U - Varane not signed in time. Sancho 'will be involved'. "still missing a few players through injury and through COVID"

West Ham - David Moyes with the Hammers' injury list: "We've got a couple. Angelo Ogbonna had a hamstring injury he suffered against Celtic - he's back in some sort of training. Lanzini's had a little bit of a groin problem so we're hoping that he'll be okay, but he's back around the group as well. In the main, we've got knocks and niggles, but hopefully everyone will be ok."

Norwich - "Our problem was the Covid-19 outbreak two weeks ago. Teemu missed a major part of pre-season and has had 10 days training. However, it could be the first few weeks we need to work on individual fitness of some of the players to be back to their best."

Amartey reprieve?

Post by SamD »

Jannick Vestergaard [Denmark centre-back] has been injured in training with his new club Leicester City and will miss tonight’s clash with West Ham.

The defender joined Brendan Rodgers’ side from Southampton, in part because of the broken leg suffered by Wesley Fofana, who is not expected to play again this year.

The injury means that Leicester are short in defence again, with Jonny Evans still absent with a foot problem and Ryan Bertrand unavailable after testing positive for COVID-19.

From The Athletic today: https://theathletic.com/live-blogs/prem ... FHTy8ZY1x0

Daniel Amartey to continue as a result?

Liverpool update tinged with Cariboucupitis but still useful....

Thiago ..... it was a calf injury. I can’t say now how long it will take but definitely not tomorrow and not at the weekend,” assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders told Liverpoolfc.com. “Let’s get the scan results back and we have a proper diagnosis."

Roberto Firmino is set to resume team training this week having missed the last three games with a hamstring issue, but will not be involved on Tuesday night at Norwich. “Bobby, who will do parts of team training but also not ready. But progressing well."

Trent A-A, there are no symptoms – no COVID symptoms. We test regardless. He should be fine in a few days but Norwich comes too early.

Neco Williams "is progressing well as well. [For him] tomorrow also comes too early.”

also confirmed Kelleher and Jones will be starting in the Cariboo tonight

but Luke Shaw could make a quick recovery from a muscle problem after going off in the same match.

Klopp: Trent anyway in the middle of the (monday training) session felt his adductor and in that area he has now a little injury. Obviously when you have something with your muscle, it's not likely for Sunday - no muscle injury heals that quick. After that, it's internationals. I don't want to make the decision for him but what I heard, I don't think it will be possible for him to be with the national team - but the other people have to decide that in the end. But hopefully after that he will be ready again, but we don't know exactly.

One of the forum moderators has edited posts (and banned 18 users) tonight. I assume the moderator used the same password on fiso as he did for FFHub (which was hacked on Saturday) allowing someone else to log in as him. I have deactivated that moderator and also removed him from the list of moderators (as well as removing almost all of the remaining mods in case they have not chosen a unique password for fiso). I have unbanned the 18 users. Dealing with edited posts is a different matter though. There is no indication that fiso itself has been hacked (all forum user passwords are encrypted via the phpbb forum software).
