Klopp’s Kop flops

Post by forestfan »

So, 4 home defeats in a row, for the first time in getting on for a century. I know, “home” and “away” perhaps mean little in the current situation, but still remarkable. Obviously the injury luck is crazy, their top 5 options at CB now all out of action. But the lack of spark at the other end of the field is harder to explain.

It’s becoming a title hangover in the mould of Leicester, Chelsea (the Eva Carneiro season), and Leeds in the early ‘90s. Looking at the table, they could finish 9th or 10th if this goes on much longer  So is it just a blip, and they’ll be back in the mix next season with a fully fit squad (and perhaps free midweeks...), or the end of an era that had looked to be just getting started?

I think that with injured personnel returning, some new blood and a bit of tweaking they will be in the mix again next season but maybe last season was a high that won't be repeated by them for some time. Makes you wonder if everything is okay behind the scenes.

Who knows, they may win every game from now on.

At the end of the day if one of the players you rely on the most is out then what can you expect? Oh hang on..............

Well yeah, City without KDB and Aguero... but they struggled with a lack of centre-backs last season. That spine of the team is perhaps more important than anything else.

Last season at City, Fernandinho played a lot at CB due to Laporte's injury and they missed his influence in midfield

This season it's the same story for Liverpool with Henderson moving back.

I really don't understand why Liverpool weren't in the market right at the beginning of the transfer window rather than at the end.

Lucky not to suffer injuries to key personnel for long periods in the last couple of years which helped with their consistency and confidence to play / press high up the pitch without fear.

That luck has had a bit of a rebalance this season and they have had to endure what other teams have had to endure in the past, especially those that have a strong first Xi but lack strength in depth.
