Another great player passes to the other side. Spurs always managed to have great GK's and he was one one of them. Watched him several times, what can i say, one of the best as I'm sure 'Pool supporters will agree.
RIP Ray Clemence.

RIP Ray
One of the best goal keepers and a great playing career over many years. I only saw him play live a couple of times when I was in the UK but he impressed me with his positioning and handling.

Fantastic player.
Would have been FF gold-
Only 6 games missed in 11 seasons
323 Clean Sheets
Set record for only conceding 16 goals in a 42 game league season, playing every game
(All stats are when at Liverpool)

And would have earned far more England caps if he and Peter Shilton hadn't kept swapping being the number one choice.
I think I saw him once in person, a 2-2 draw at Stoke City. Excellent goalie, and one of my boyhood heroes.

Re: Ray Clemence death.
Sad to hear, we’ve lost a lot of great footballers this year and not just from Covid. I only remember the back end of his career but he was clearly one of the best and in an era when England was spoilt for choice with quality keepers. Whereas now we probably haven’t had a world class one since Seaman was in his prime. What went wrong?

Ray produced the best keeping display I have seen live, playing for Liverpool at White Hart Lane 16th March 1971.
