Football Talk Forum Policy

Post by Vid »

What the Football Talk forum is for:

The title gives it away, it is for talking about all aspects football!

What is acceptable:

Any comments about the game itself, the rules, the governing bodies, officials, the clubs, owners, directors, managers, players, stadia, the pies, matches, etc., etc. as long as comments stay within T&Cs/ Etiquette and do not contain anything that may be construed as libel of any individuals.

What is not acceptable:

Personal attacks on any poster for having given an opinion. Goading/ baiting/ harassing other posters for stating an opinion. Circumvention of the forum's filters, they are in place for a reason. Reposting/ editing anything back following moderator intervention to remove/ edit posts.

Threads are not "owned" by those that start them and they are not restricted to fans of whatever club or other group of posters. Every registered poster that has posting privileges for the Football Talk forum has the right to give an opinion on the subject if they believe that they have something to add to it. Those posting privileges can be suspended from those that appear determined to make the forum a battle ground.

We are all (or mostly) adults that have followed football for many years, we have our own viewpoints, our likes and dislikes, we take the piss when friends' teams lose, we have to take it on the chin when our team loses and it comes back our way. It is how the vast majority of us have grown up, genuine, harmless banter.

Of course not everyone on FISO are going to be friends but there is no reason for criticism of anything related to any given club to degenerate into plain nastiness.

There are a few posters that do make rods for their own backs with some blinkered or outlandish statements. If someone says something that makes them the butt of a few jokes then fine, joke away, but there is absolutely no call for them to be rounded on with any form of nastiness.

Discuss the football topics, not the posters who offer opinions that you disagree with. If you believe that anyone has overstepped the mark then by all means report the post for a member of the moderator team to look at rather than take them on at the personal level.

If you notice that a topic has 'disappeared' it is more than likely it has been moved to the private Football Opinions forum where the discussion can continue. Anyone can apply to join this subforum by going to ucp.php?i=167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and selecting the Football Opinions group.

We will be utilising the private Football Opinions forum to move some threads/ posts that we consider to have moved outside of the acceptable scope of the Football Talk forum but still have life for ongoing discussion. So if something "disappears" it may well be found there.

Anything that may be contentious is best started/ posted there in the first place.

Anyone can apply to join by going to ucp.php?i=167" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and select Football Opinions group.
