Well yeah, assumed GB would be wildly overpriced as London/Rio is unsustainable, funding cuts will be biting now along with other countries catching up in sports we dominated. Hope it’s not a reverse journey back to Atlanta standards though!

As for cheats… I’ve also gone for whatever the ROC is cooking ;)

Even though ROC looked much better value, I just couldn't pick them.

You can’t have morals/team biases in fantasy sports…

I’ll have Ben Johnson, Lance Armstrong, that Russian fencer from the 70s who wired up his sword to register hits at the push of a button, and the entire sport of weightlifting.

I think a fencer may have failed a sex test too? Best of all was the marathon runner that took a short cut in one of the really early games. Like something you would try and do in cross country at school 😀

Yeah, someone took a taxi didn’t he? First London Olympics I think.

Plain old doping is dull, imaginative ways to cheat or just the moronic “how the hell did they think they could get away with that?” examples are a lot more fun!

My picks-

73 japan 332
98 netherlands 242 (576)
113 russian drug cheats 326 (902)
65 India 87 (987)
22 Brazil 198 (1185)
14 Barbados 15 (1200)

Once I'd decided the US and China were too expensive and settled on my top 3 it was almost pin sticking after that.

I think a lot of us might have RDC, Japan and the artists formerly known as Holland. Then it’s just down to how our respective minnows do.

I think a good tip is too pick African countries who always do well at Olympics like Kenya and Ethiopia. And also Nigeria. Then you pick Japan and then Jamaica if you can afford it

But if you want to guarantee points in Athletics then pick African countries especially in this heat where it will be over thirty degrees. I would say pick three African countries and then Japan and other countries who do well in other sports

Wondered why I'd disappeared from the first page. A bit of investigation reveals that BBC medals table (where I'm getting the data from) changed from Russian Olympic Committee to ROC.

A slight amendment to the spreadsheet & we're back up and running.

It's a copy of the main 230-entrant spreadsheet, once again relying on Google sheets to update. Having tried this up-to-date league table & scoring thing, it's very useful that the spreadsheet keeps updating itself, which means I'm not constantly updating a medals table 24/7. The main problem with it though, is that I can't decide when it updates. It is very likely that during the day when events are still happening, that the 2 league tables will be out of sync with each other, but when the play has stopped for the day, and they've both done a final update, they should both be the same.

Cool.

Quite tight at the top of the m/l.

Still very early days. It can only really go one way from here.
