Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
There are 4 months until the start of the 2018 Winter Olympics which are being held in South Korea. As expected I'm running another Shaggy-type competition, so pick 6 countries before it all starts, don't over-spend the budget, get points for medals and come last (again).
Website is here. Entry by email or pm and invite everyone else you know.
Good luck y'all
P.S. If North Korea get upset that they don't win any medals and start World War 3, then the competition will be void.

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
The first entry has flooded in, so I thought I'd better do a bit of research for my entry.
One thing to mention is that I have left Russia in the entry table, since the athletes that have proved themselves to be 'clean' are participating as representatives of the country called "Olympic Athlete from Russia". Strictly speaking I ought to change the name Russia to OAR, but I've decided that will confuse some people.

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
Can't wait to get some more entries in. Currently standing at 2, which means the number of entries doubled in just 1 day. If we carry on at that rate, I will have 4,294,967,296 entries by the time it starts, and I'll have to re-design my spreadsheet.

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
Given that there are only 1,921,082 different legal entries, that means that on average your entry will be the same as 2,235 other people. Better get those entries in quick.
I have to report that in the 10 entries received so far, no 2 entries are the same, so my logic for entering early looks to be working.

OK, so no entries in the last week. It's probably going to be the usual rush at the end. Anyway, there's less than 3 weeks to go, so time to dig out the lucky pin.

I'm holding fire. Need to see the exact composition of the joint Korean women's ice hockey team before I commit to my entry.Shaggy365 wrote:OK, so no entries in the last week. I hope the North Koreans have all the right drug testing documentation.....

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
... and still no more entries. Is there some concerted effort by everyone to all enter at 2 minutes before the deadline that I don't know about? A bit like a big surprise party with Kylie jumping out of a big cake?
Or more likely, there'll just be a load of entries as the deadline gets ever closer. (Worse luck)

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
When does it start?
Does it clash with my Egg Chasing 6 Nations Prediction Comp?
That was only launched this evening and I've already had one entry flood in. Starts next Saturday. Just 30 places left. First come, first served.
No reason not to enter both folks!

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
As I opened the pm's, I had a sense of trepidation about what these 2 entrants above would have done. However, all my fears were unfounded. I have to report that I still haven't received any entries that have had to go back for over-spending or not picking enough countries.
I'll just pick myself up from the floor and keep keying.

You do know that it has already started?
Norway providing something of a shock in the Mixed Pairs Curling by beating Canada
Obviously the Russian* is the top curling totty, although the Korean has a certain something.

Re: Fantasy 2018 Winter Olympics
Yes, I am aware that it has already started. Not really enough to influence anyone's decision I wouldn't have thought. Also, because I've had entries from all over the place, the easiest way to choose a deadline for entering was to take the opening ceremony, rather than setting a time by a time-zone.
