Re: The Ashes 2017 - The Fiso Game - Prizes - 5th Test - PICK NOW
Jim,I don't understand this gambling stuff but I wish you well... and I would be pretty happy with a draw at present!
Really hope that Curran does well...and not just because he is in my team...he also should have come in last night..
Swann really ripping into the night watchman decision! Quite right...
Blahblah...if I am to have any chance I probably need to have Starc get all the remaining wickets.... hopefully by tea....tomorrow!

Yes, we’re in lads. What’s the world record 10th wicket partnership?

Well, apart from one giant knock against Kent ( I think) for Glos last year, Bancroft was rubbish. Why on earth have Som signed him for next season?
My DAB radio dissolved in a sea of static at the start of the Aussie innings...when it had cleared Bancroft was gone! Can't wait for the next disruption to service!

Yep, I don't see another 20ish wickets falling.
30-35 Overs until the next New Ball (which isn't until the morning?) should see the Aussies at least 100-150 in front. With 2 Days still to go they should more than enough for England to force them to get more than 50?

Bairstow has 25, one catch, one stumping, 5 runs. What's the issue?

Not a ten
Think thelip's score of 271 after day three is correct. But it should have been 261 after day two.
It was, however, shown as 271 yesterday so thelip may have been expecting total to rise to 281 after Bairstow stumped Khawaja today.

Cricinfo changed a catch from Paine to Bancroft so maybe that's where the 10 pts went.

Goodness me...at time of writing this is awful beyond my imagination... and I am always a realist. I actually feel rather sorry for the TMS commentators!
In terms of this game ,I have scored 25 so far today.. the same as yesterday!
It gives me no pleasure to say that I predicted this shambles....

Re: The Ashes 2017 - The Fiso Game - Prizes - 5th Test - Johngooch back on top
Congratulations to those who have done well...As expected, I was garbage...should have stuck with my instincts regarding my selection but got fatally sidetracked when it appeared that Starc was definitely going to play....c'est la vie...
Feel very sorry for Root.I hope that he emerges mentally intact from the whole experience of captaining in Australia...Whilst I admire him very much, I was concerned that he received the captaincy too early ( for him) and that the potential to become the best batsman in the world would suffer as a consequence... Being the best player in a team does not mean that that person will make the best captain... Think of the clear thinking that saw Brearley made captain all of those years ago... An incredibly capable, strong , intelligent and subtle leader who probably wouldn't have made the side on purely cricketing ability at the time....Then again ,these are the people who thought it acceptable to have S***es as vice captain of everything....
There will be all sorts of explanations for this drubbing.. We could all write essays I am sure but the bottom line is England were simply not good enough ,from selection to application onwards..Far too many unfit fast-ish bowlers....
I imagine that we will all be lead to shake this off and to focus on the one day stuff...but we mustn't let the ECB off the hook lightly... The Ashes represents the pinnacle of cricket ( to me and others) and so no excuses....learn and start planning right now...don't focus on 'the pyjama game.'
Finally, many, many thanks to Spencer 4 for providing this great bit of fun for us all....As had been said before ,a game for the one day series and/or New Zealand would certainty help to keep us alert and focused over the rest of the winter...
Now...how to get used to living on non- cricket hours?..hmm
DD....
