No one likes admitting they are rubbish in bed, fewer admit they are poor drivers. Last night I drove 2 hrs to Inverness airport from Braemar over some stunning mountain roads as the sun set, single track, winding, unlit, surrounded on both sides by treacherous unfenced sheer drops. Picked up my daughter and set off back to Braemar, only now it was getting very dark. Same drill, winding, dangerous, empty roads requiring full concentration.

Made it back in one piece, now pitch black outside, and entered the drive to the holiday cottage feeling a sense of relief and pride at the 4hr masterpiece of driving skill.

Just about to pull up when i hit a metal fence post, gouged a huge 4 foot tear in the passenger side of my beloved Discovery and ripped off the back bumper. Grrr
