anyone fancy running this?
Sadly I'm just not going to have time to run this next season - not enough to do it justice.
Its easy enough to do, you just need a bit of time each monday to do it.
There is a bit of initial set up work (using Andys spreadsheets), so once set up, its a piece of the proverbial.
I'm more than happy to help in the handover, and will obviously be on hand when I can to help and advise.

I'm not putting my name forward to run it, but for the person who does take it on, you'll also get my assistance in viewing the points that apply to the La Log game for each game week (not that you should you need it, but it may be handy once in a while).

Re: anyone fancy running this?
I barely have time to update the stats/points after matches, let alone work on new features for the site AND sweep all the DT prizes before me! La Log is for someone who wants to get involved with the forum more, or for someone who is on here all the time and wants something to do in between posting tons of guff (em9999, Stinky?).Mad Dog wrote:Jules come on man, should be easy for a man of your expertise to run?

Just check out the root of this sub-forum: la-log-f207.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's a little league based competition that Zimm ran where you pick a SDT team and stick with it throughout the league. Every weekend for around 10 weeks(or however many in your little league) your team plays against others in your league.
No money changing hands, just a bit of fun. Once all fixtures complete you can make 3 transfers before promotion and relegation issues sorted and the whole things starts again.
Sorted...... right, who's going to run it this coming season?

Re: anyone fancy running this?
Just to add to that, your teams compete on the DreamTeam points gained in a full set of fixtures (usually a weekend) so that everyone's players only play once. Your teams points vs Opponents points per fixture means a win, lose or draw, with the points scored and points against making a 'goal' difference. It really is quite simple to run, but takes an hour or two every Monday/Tuesday.Zarch wrote:It's a little league based competition that Zimm ran where you pick a SDT team and stick with it throughout the league. So in summary, it's a 10 team league system with fixtures taking place each weekend, with the scope for completing 3 'seasons' during one Premier League season.

Re: anyone fancy running this?
Thanks for the explanation Zarch & Jules.
And yes I had seen La Log mentioned a good number of times but as I had never played it I never took an encylopaedic interest in the rules & details.
So rather than trawl through all the posts trying to pick it up (& maybe not picking up some important rules) I just thought it would be easier to ask the question of people who play it regularly,so already know all the complexities of it.
Now I know

Re: anyone fancy running this?
It's a good game. It certainly maintains an interest each week, especially if your team isn't competitive in the main Sun comp (which happens to most of us!). Your La Log team can have a really bad week points wise but still scrape a win against an equally poor performing team, or you can have an amazing week and get pipped by someone who has had a slightly better week. It's a fun game and gets plenty of banter at the business end of each game 'season'.
Whoever takes it on will have certainly enjoy playing the game.

What is the spreadsheet thing like, and how easy is it to do?
Also how come this is only done for fun? No one fancy doing it for money? Sounds like a good idea?

Re: anyone fancy running this?
Pretty straight forward to be honest.
It just utilises Andy Jones' spreadsheet (have you seen that)?
Involving money is always a lot harder to do.
At the moment, we have 40 people playing for fun.
Introduce cash and I reckon it will drop considerably.

Hey, cheers for the reply, I have not seen the spreadsheet, do you have a link so I can look please?
Ok but if there is enough people interested I would definately be up for a cash version, but if not would like to join the free one.

Dont you have time anymore now you have upgraded to a MEGA HUGE MULTI MASS SUN DREAMTEAM ENTRANT and along with your MEGA HUGE MULTI MASS SYNDICATE ASSOCIATES you are gonna UNFAIRLY but within the rules take away any possible winnings from dads and sons accross the land?Zimmerman wrote:Sadly I'm just not going to have time to run this next season - not enough to do it justice.

Re: anyone fancy running this?
Nothing to do with my participation in the real game Tom.
Thats the beauty of the Sun, once entered, little effort required.
I had 23 teams last season, and I still struggled.
Work, life and deleting the dross and petty arguments on here takes up most of my time sadly
Firm believer in if you're doing something, then do it properly.

What's the Craic with this one Zimm?
Has anyone taken this on?
I would but I can't guarantee I'll be in the country or even have access to a computer on a week to week basis.
If it does hit the burner this year I'm sure everyone will agree with me that you have done a terrific job on La Log and provided us with a cracking side game. Cheers mate.
