Having smaller seasons and a shorter run to climb the leagues works an absolute treat ......
Couldn't agree more, at the start of the season do exactly what we did this season, 3 qualifying groups, followed by 2 seasons (I think the H&A of this season is too long when you loose your first 7 games  ) of 3 Leagues with Relegation, Promotion & Play Offs.

Well i wouldnt go as far as having another qualification phase next season. The people in the top division earned the right to be there and its up to us to go promote ourselves. New additions next season can start at the bottom and any drop outs can be replaced according to the final league placings.

Yeh, I agree (multiple seasons and small divisions is the way forward).

Its still a full on battle for promotion then gents.

Good luck.

btw... i'm relying on 20 of you dropping out so I keep my place in the Prem!

I know you might not think it fair, but i would like to see regular posters given a priority. It just annoys me a little when i set up a side comp, someone enteres, then offers no banter. We dont have cash prizes, so the banter is what makes this side comps fun.

If it is a more serious comp, for money maybe, like the X league, or the predictions, then fine, offer no banter, and just sit back, observe and hope you win. But comps like this one, the battle league etc... and the F1 and predictions doubles cup i run, rely on banter more than anything else.

Am i being a bit mean maybe??

Im certainly for the short seasons option - would be really cool.

Interesting point TheTon - I have been surprised how little banter there has been for La Log league. I checked every week and tried to comment most weeks but ended up giving up (commenting not checking each week).
I dont think making people make comments for the sake of it will improve anything though...

I agree drbell.

Even with your short post count though, you have offered banter to this thread on many occassion. I dont understand why some people would venture into a comp like this then have nothing to say!! :?

Every summer Fiso gets a new bunch of excited newbies who with the best of intentions get involved, however by September on a tiny percentage of them have stayed. Im afraid its the nature of the beast that when you open competitions up in pre season there will be plenty of people who end up fading away.

Limiting the league to people with certain post counts rarely works. You discourage the newbies who would stay and insult people around the cut off line. Making a rule like "must have 20 posts to enter" is never a good thing.

I am not actually saying it should be a certain post count.
Like i mentioned above, drbell offers banter all the time, but has a post count less than 100.

Either way, it was just a passing thought - maybe i was having a bad day at the poker table

Week 9

A close (and low) encounter between Takeshi and Karrde sees the stormtrooper on the end of a narrow defeat. TheTon eases past the divisions whooping boy with another low scoring victory.
Despite scoring the most points overall, Mrs Bell is still only mid-table thanks to a draw against transfer-less Qadesh.

Rainycat 44 - 17 Dr Bell
Andi_Jones 19 - 28 The Ton
Kid Kongo 14 - 17 Miles_T
Takeshi Kovacs 29 - 27 Karrde
Qadesh 32 - 32 Mrs Bell

no game next weekend

Any chance you've forgotten the Man. City - Everton game ? Or did the DT website update extremely early last night ?

Mrs Bell 52 - 15 Miles_T
Qadesh 21 - 31 The Ton
Takeshi Kovacs 55 - 24 Rainycat
Kid Kongo 40 - 23 Andi_Jones

A case of the same old story here; the top 5 all winning.
Next week sees 2nd v 3rd (Ton v Mrs Bell), 4th v 5th (Kid Kongo v Dr Bell) and top v bottom (Takeshi v Andi).

With it being "Grand bore draw sunday", points are sure to be at a premium.

Week 13

In the Joint top/2nd v 3rd battle, it was a case of ladies first. Mrs Bell beating The Ton by a solitary point. That win propels her into top spot. Thanks mainly to the unexpected victory for bottom placed Andi over league leader Takeshi.

Dr Bell failed to capitalise on The Ton's and Takeshi's slip. Him and next placed Kid Kongo shared the honours and edged slightly closer to 2nd and 3rd.

Results
Kid Kongo 31 - 31 Dr Bell
Andi_Jones 30 - 23 Takeshi Kovacs
Rainycat 39 - 21 Qadesh
The Ton 21 - 22 Mrs Bell
Miles_T 34 - 28 Karrde
