It'll be a real shame if this game doesn't happen this year as i have to say its one of my favourites. Not to mention one of the ones tht i thought i'd have a decnt chance in.
Thats what happens when you get people from England winning it, the Jocks lose interest and more importantly so do those that run their newspapers.

Re: Daily Record game to go ahead this season????
I think last year's winner (Andy Luckhurst) already posted somewhere that he didn't think they were going to run a comp this season.
Would be interested to know why, but I suspect it was because of the low number of entries, doubt if they made a profit, although I know that is not the only reason newspapers run these comps, maybe they weren't getting any increased paper sales either.
The good thing is there are still plenty of alternatives to choose from, and if you really want to go SPL then there is always the Scottish Sun.

I am sure you are right about the low entries being critical though I think other factors will be low interest from scottish entrants and the domination of the leaderboard by one person.Rick wrote:I think last year's winner (Andy Luckhurst) already posted somewhere that he didn't think they were going to run a comp this season.

i think it was touch and go whether they had a comp last year or not, which then reduced the entries further and killed the comp for good? what do the scots find to do on a cold winters night if not ff, surely they can't all fit in the pub lol
this comp is no more parrot - it has ceased to be

are you trying to intimate the scots are tight, stupid, or anti english?
being a quarter scottish myself i seriously hope that is not the case!
as long as the english don't close a competition every time an irishman or croatian win one

Re: Daily Record game to go ahead this season????
agreed tso.
i didn't realise how low the entry numbers were until some time after the competition started last year, and was quite shocked even allowing for the will they won't they, then very late launch.
coupled with a few multi entries, think i had 30 (might have been a few more, can't recall), zoran, graham, richard, neil, some of the scots guys had a fair few, and sure a few of them had a fair few more than me the number of unique entries must have been really bad and so not surprised it folded.
really very concerned the rule changes in tffo will send it the same way, although pleased to see the times running a game again especially as it is not run by their own people.
good luck for the season tso.
