Team news for first friendly-
Ox - going to miss pre season games due to 'knock to the knee in training'
Matip & Henderson - 'recovering well' but 'not yet in contention to play'
TAA & HWilson - left at home to recove from minor injuries

"Just throw on the pitch what we have in this moment, we will make changes, everybody will play pretty much"

No idea. Last year of contract and has been rumours Koeman wants him at Barca. Also persistent rumours linking Thiago Alcantra to Liverpool with the Independent claiming we need to sell first (but that could mean the likes of Wilson and Grujic)

It would be a strange one as I think that he is one of your key players..... (the midfield 3 are important in Klippity's system imho)

Agreed but if he wants a new challenge and hasn't signed a new contract (very unlike modern Liverpool to leave it this late with top players)

2-0 at HT. 11 subs.

Klopp said he kept Wijno for second half to give him practice in holding role while Hendo out and also, with Milner, to provide experience with kids.

Update properly later.

That seems a bit odd as I distinctly remember Klopp saying something like that he had to nag Wij to get forward more as he was too selfless...

Liverpool 3-0 Stuttgart (in Austria)

First-half team: Alisson, Williams, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Jones, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
11 subs at HT
Second-half team: Adrian, Hoever, Phillips, Van den Berg (Koumetio, 68), Tsimikas, Wijnaldum, Milner, Grujic, Elliott, Minamino, Brewster.
Unused substitute: Kelleher.
Injured - Ox, Henderson, Matip, TAA, Wilson
AWOL?? - Origi, Shaqiri, Karius

1-0 15min Firmino (Jones) "A bit of confusion in the penalty and Roberto Firmino pokes home!"
2-0 40min Keita (Firmino, Salah) "Naby Keita gets the goal he deserves! He has been sharp all afternoon but what an assist from Roberto Firmino! A gorgeous back-heel put Keita in behind the Stuttgart defence and he finished calmly."
3-0 68min Brewster (Milner) "Rhian Brewster scores! He pulls away from his marker and fires home inside the six-yard box! He cannot stop scoring!"

Liverpool Echo player reviews:

Alisson Becker - Reacted quickly to boot clear after an early Fabinho slip but had little to do otherwise aside from worry how the rain might affect his lovely hair.
Neco Williams - A couple of Stuttgart's handful of openings came down his side but generally held the defensive line well and got forward to support the attack when he could.
Joe Gomez - Seemed to struggle more than most with this slippy conditions and picked up a slightly harsh yellow after no more than a standard shoulder challenge propelled his opponent into advertising hoardings. Used his recovery pace a couple of times when needed.
Virgil van Dijk - Cruised through the half in his usual manner and stepped into midfield a couple of times, perhaps out of boredom. Should have scored with a free header from a Robertson free kick but glanced wide.
Andy Robertson - Got forward well and produced a number of trademark quality crosses. Cracked a left foot shot narrowly wide just before the break.
Fabinho - Looked a little rusty early on but patrolled the middle of the park well, breaking things up when the Germans tried to maintain possession and produced a couple of probing forward passes himself.
Naby Keita - Lively, combative and fully deserved his goal, could have had an assist too after a delicious one-two with Mane which saw the Senegal forward spurn the chance. Carried on where he left off at the end of last season.
Curtis Jones - Another who continued his excellent form from the end of last campaign. Very mobile around the midfield but seems to have filled out and becoming a real presence. Great feet and composure to set up Firmino's opener.
Mohamed Salah - Looked a little rusty and didn't get loads of service, his sharp pass into Firmino helped create the second goal though.
Roberto Firmino - Did little apart from score the first and create the second with a sublime backheel. Klopp won't complain with that kind of output every week.
Sadio Mane - Seemed to be playing a little deeper than normal early on but was always a threat to the Stuttgart defence even if he ended up down a few blind alleys. Should have scored after great one-two with Keita.
Liverpool team in the second half:
Adrian - Involved increasingly as half wore on and made number of solid saves, one of them excellent as he tipped wide a shot after Phillips played Hoever into trouble. Good and vocal as he organised the youngsters around him.
Ki-Jana Hoever - Showed his impressive recovery pace a couple of times and produced some good tackles in difficult conditions. Few nice touches in final third but no real crossing opportunities.
Nat Phillips - First minute summed up his half, one excellent pass out of trouble then one poor one which could have led to trouble. Made some good interceptions as found his feet but a couple of sloppy moments too.
Sepp Van den Berg - Kept it simple in the 20 or so minutes he had on the pitch and kept the ball moving. Liverpool had more defending to do after he came off.
Kostas Tsimikas - Steady but encouraging start for Liverpool's newest signing, comfortable on the ball, eager to get forward but alert defensively too, covering well and slightly berating his colleagues after needing to clear at the near post from a right wing cross.
Gini Wijnaldum - Gini is as Gini does, kept it simple and circulated the ball economically, kept a watchful eye on the youngsters behind him alongside his senior midfield colleague.
James Milner - Welcomed Kostas Tsimikas to Liverpool life with early verbal volley after slack play by the Greek. Worked hard box to box as ever and showed his quality with an excellent assist for Rhian Brewster's goal.
Marko Grujic - Should have scored with a header from Milner's corner ten minutes into the second half and will be frustrated he was unable to make more of an impression on his return to Liverpool action.
Harvey Elliott - Looked lively as ever and confident enough to take a free kick off Milner early in the half, which was deflected wide with the goalkeeper looking wrong-footed and stranded.
Rhian Brewster - Will be delighted to be back on the Liverpool goal trail following his successful loan spell after finishing well from close range, always on the hunt and pressuring defenders and might have had a penalty late on when clipped just inside the box.
Takumi Minamino - Some delightful touches and turns early on but still not quite the end product his undoubted ability hints at. Worked hard and produced one excellent tackle late on inside his own penalty area as Stuttgart looked for a consolation goal.
Billy Koumetio (replaced Sepp Van den Berg on 68 minutes) - Very promising cameo from the giant Academy defender who Klopp has promoted from the Academy. Produced a couple of towering headers and one nerveless block when exposed, can pass too as one delightful slide-rule ball down the left to Tsmikas demonstrated.

Missed this a few days ago.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Harry Wilson miss out on Liverpool's pre-season trip to Austria because of injury.

TAA's "injury complaint is described as minor, however, and is unlikely to threaten Alexander-Arnold 's participation in the curtain-raiser against the Gunners at Wembley on August 29.

...he has been given his own bespoke fitness regime to work towards as he aims to get back to full fitness this month.

.....The same applies to Harry Wilson who is also looking to get back up to full speed after his season on loan with relegated Bournemouth.

Like Alexander-Arnold, Wilson is not thought to be an injury doubt for the Community Shield in 12 days."

I will edit posts above accordingly

2nd game kicks off at 3pm (Salzburg away)

Only 1 change to the line ups - Wijnaldum starts instead of Jones making it a genuine 'first choice of those available'

Klopp has indicated some will play more than 45 minutes so not 11 HT subs this time

Starting line-up: Alisson, Williams, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Keita, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Kelleher, Milner, Grujic, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Brewster, Phillips, Hoever, Elliott, Van den Berg, Koumetio.

Injured - Ox, Henderson, Matip, TAA, Wilson
Still AWOL?? - Origi, Shaqiri, Karius. Could guess these are all looking for transfers BUT Echo said they missed first game for "what were thought to be minor injury concerns". Hmmm....

Salzburg 2 v 2 Liverpool

2-0 down at half time

Echo's first half summary- "Well that was a half of two halves. Salzburg were clearly keen to make a statement and their high press and pace from deep caused Liverpool all sorts of problems in the opening 20 minutes. But the Reds were dominant in the closing 15 minutes and should have scored at least once. This is exactly the kind of workout Klopp would have wanted. The tackles are flying in too - this is about as competitive as a friendly gets."

3 subs at half time
Fabinho  Milner
Keita  Jones
Firmino  Minamino

Enforced 4th sub (55 mins)
Van Dijk  Phillips
LFC: "nasty blow to the head"
Echo: "Virgil van Dijk is down with a nasty cut just above his right eye. He got caught as he came down for a header. He will live but that could be his afternoon over with..... leaves the field clutching a pad to his cut eye"

62 mins - remaining 7 starters off
Mane, Robertson, Salah, Williams, Alisson, Gomez and Wijnaldum  Adrian, Hoever, Tsimikas, Grujic, Koumetio, Elliott and Brewster (van den Berg unlucky unused sub).

72 mins - 2-1 Brewster (Milner, Minamino if 2nd KCs still existed) "Really well worked from Liverpool as Minamino lays in Milner before he finds Brewster. He slides in to put the ball into the roof of the net. Liverpool back in it on the 73rd minute."

81 mins 2-2 Brewster (Jones?) "It’s Rhian Brewster again with a superb finish! The long ball over the top is chased by Jones but the goalkeeper gets there first. The ball comes to Brewster, though, and he steadies himself before planting it into the top corner from outside box. Wonderful finish."

3 'highly rated' Eurokids signed-

Liverpool have completed the signing of 16-year-old German youth international Melkamu Frauendorf from Hoffenheim. The ECHO understands a deal was approved by the Football Association and Premier League inside the last two weeks. And the attacking midfielder has now penned a scholarship agreement at Anfield. Frauendorf will join up with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and his under-18 side ahead of the new campaign after being capped by Germany at under-15 and u-16 level. Hoffenheim will be owed training compensation for their development of the player.

Frauendorf is the third highly-rated teenager to arrive at the academy in recent weeks. Polish goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek from FC Wroclaw and SMS Lodz midfielder Mateusz MusiaΕ‚owski both checked in earlier this summer. Musialowski scored on his u-18 debut at the weekend as a Layton Stewart hat-trick and Tom Hill strike helped Liverpool to a resounding 5-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra.

Charadee Shield injury update from Klopp

VVD fit but otherwise slightly confusing/contradictory about some, eg TAA is among those 'not available' but he still has to 'make a decision' because he is 'very close'. My interpretation is that he has a chance of being on the bench. I predict the same starting XI as Salzburg game.

β€œAll the boys which were not involved so far or got slight knocks in pre-season will not be available for tomorrow, but [are] getting closer, really closer, closer and closer so hopefully the majority of them can start training completely normal after the Arsenal game, but this game is now a bit too early for them. Maybe one or two involved in the squad, we have to see.
β€œThat’s it pretty much. Hendo and Joel [Matip] looking really good, on a good way. Ox, early stages but good. Shaq, good. Trent, very close, we have to make a decision about tomorrow. Harry [Wilson] looks good.”

Milner in for benched Keita in only change from last friendly.

Liverpool:Β Alisson, Williams, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Milner, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Subs:Β Adrian, Keita, Grujic, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Brewster, Elliott, Koumetio.

Koumetio only CB on bench. 9 subs, think they can use 6. VVD fit. No TAA. From last friendlies young defenders Hoever, vdB and Phillips miss out and nobody comes in.

Transfer news - Echo: "Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says they are expecting an offer in the coming days for Liverpool-linked Thiago Alcantara."

Injury news - Asked about Henderson’s prospects of featuring in the Premier League opener at home to Leeds United on September 12, Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: β€œFor that we have to see when he trains. I think Joel [Matip] and Hendo will be in parts of team training next week and we will see. Of course, the longer they have the better the chance is, but I don’t know in this moment.”
