New Teams are created as the average of the bottom Division, which is all that boosting does, so you are probably over-estimated the time before a team becomes decent, but it could be a while before they challenged for the title.

Depends what you call decent blah? I've had my team since the start of season 3, but didn't really know what I was doing for first 2 seasons (some would say I still don't!! lol) However I am still a way off the "top" teams after 10 seasons (not including my first 2). Most of the top players in the league have been with teams since the very start of the league, or have been purchased with funds from players who were there. I did post somewhere ages ago (around season 5 or 6) that there would be no new winner of the FISO league until after season 15, and it proved to be right. I would probably say that it is still unlikely that it will happen until all the oldies from those disappear.

I'm not so sure it is about the oldies retiring, it is more about getting the kids on the right path and keeping them there until they get to their mid 20's, while bringing through the next tranche(s)?

I would quite like this, but only as an "every 4th season" kinda thing. Have 3 regular seasons and in season numbers dividable by 4 we have the champions league format which gives everyone more of a chance to test themselves against those teams they never normally see.

As for the "catching up with the old guard" debate - I think it's possible with good long term management. Yes there will be setbacks along the way but in the end nobody else has control of the strength of your team except you, and nobody can stop a team that starts at the bottom becoming as strong as a team that has been at the top since day 1, if that team buys well, trains well and sells well. It takes a lot of time though, which is why I am arguing against making it take even longer.

I do like the idea of a Champions League every 4 seasons.

I'm not a big fan of the champs league format, but this does appeal to me!! Would shake things things up every once in a while and keep things fresh!! Would that be four groups of six then?

Looks like no need for a poll.

OK, i am not bright enough to know what this will do to the end of season Promotion and Relegation this time - apologies if someone misses out when they thought they had acheived their target... But this is what im going to do. Its early enough in this season that everyone knows about it.

1 - Leagues will stay the same size.

2 - As of next season there will be a Top Division. Below that will be 1a and 1b.

3 - 3 teams will be relegated from the top division.

4 - 1a and 1b champions will be promoted along with play off winners.

Yes, there was support for having a 1a and 1b to avoid having a crazy middle division and there were strong pleas not to tamper with the division size.

Having 2 div 2's is pointless!! Some teams will never get to play each other in about 15 seasons!! Whats the point in that??

We can have the CL format every 4th season if that is wanted. Cant see the point in in myself but ive no objections. It will mean that the seaon before has no promotion and relegation though which means only 2 out of every 4 seasons will be normal.

Im pretty sure that if I set it to 3 teams relegated and have a 1a and 1b the 3rd space will to to a play off. I suppose I wont see for sure until I come to the setup screen.

The middle division at the moment is what doesnt work. Its either 1a and 1b or change the division size - and that had strong protests. I didnt see much objection to 1a and 1b until now.

It can still be up for debate, we effectively have 80% of this season left to iron it out.

I think that it decides which is the best runner-up and promotes that rabble.

Is there any reason for not keeping it simple and just changing the promotion and relegation from 3 to 2, which would reduce the craziness of the middle division?

The public league has playoffs so I assumed this would mirror it. Even if it is best runners up, I still think its a thousand times better than that ridiculous middle division setup we have now.

Aside from the fact that it could be seen as protecting the status of the current top division clubs, no there is no reason.

This would get my vote.

It doesn't seem like the current system needs any drastic changes.

As the most vociferous (or just long winded) protestor to the increased division sizes I wouldn't object at all to 2 up 2 down if that's the consensus. As long as the season lengths don't change too
