ok so I know how to limit cells to 2 decimal places by formatting the cell, but when that cell is used in a calculation it appears to calculate the full figure including the trailling decimal places.
there must be an easy fix for this.....right???

Though you shouldn't really be rounding here - only at the end of your calculations, else the books may not balance!

it's the age old problem of manually checking one system with another, both of which operate differently.... data is worked out to infinite decimal places but only calculated using 2 decimal places, when trying to "proof" the calculations to find any errors, we also need the data to work to 2 decimal places, rather than, as you say, calculating the data accurately and only using 2 decimal places to keep the "report" tidy.

Takes me back to the days when I had to report the company's profit to the nearest £000. There was more time spent adding up & subtracting in the meetings to make sure it was all consistent with itself than anything else. People didn't mind if we'd lost £50k in the month, as long as the numbers added up.
