Has anyone thought that Ron could stink OT out like other Citeh "targets"? Does Ron try to play the piano?

Re: CR7
He’s not “any old player” though, he’s a force of nature… Tom Brady is the only parallel I can think of in team sports, and his late career move hasn’t worked out too badly.
There’s a chance he could be rotated a bit more than he’s accustomed to, though, particularly if they’re fighting on multiple fronts, so maybe some risk to banking on him being a reliable fantasy points machine.
And cricket fans might notice he’s now on “Nelson” in terms of international goals… beware an upcoming injury!

Re: CR7
Quick look at pen records and Ronaldo is good (139 scored, 28 missed = 85% success) Bruno's is very very good (missed 3 of 44 - 93% success rate).
Suspect Ron will have them anyway.

“Pog” and “Cav” threw me for a moment given the amount of time I’ve spent on the cycling threads recently… I’ll resist the pun about which of them will soon be on their bike

As an aside, can anyone on here explain why betting odds are often expressed as weird fractions such as 10/3 and 31/5 as in the example above.
Surely it would be so much easier to understand and compare if all odds were simply expressed as "something" to 1? i.e. 3.3/1 and 6.2/1 in these examples.

Re: CR7
Guess it’s just tradition, the American system is very different for example. A bit like how maths teachers hated the idea of combining decimals and fractions in the same formula!

Tradition. Decimal odds are becoming more commonplace and you can usually choose between the two systems on betting sites.johnF wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 11:31 As an aside, can anyone on here explain why betting odds are often expressed as weird fractions such as 10/3 and 31/5 as in the example above.

Re: CR7
Yeah, you used to only see (whole number)/1 in the case of long odds, and then things like 7/2, 9/2… 100/30 was the strange one (why the trailing zeros?) And obviously closer numbers as you got towards evens.
Betting markets have reduced the need for rounding, and for the “traditional” multiples, which I guess old-style course bookies had their signals for etc.

Re: CR7
That's basically decimal odds (though decimal would be 4.5, not 3.5). Traditional bookmakers never mixed decimals in, maybe to avoid confusion as to whether it was 3.5/1 or 35/1?

Re: CR7
Does anyone know if Ronaldo's ban from the next Portugal game means he can now train with Man U from now, ahead of their game with Newcastle? If so he's presumably far more likely to start?

Re: CR7
No, I mean when is the un-decimalisation of money scheduled for? Not that it really matters what you split £1 into these days, it’s just shrapnel in any case. Maybe a revaluation is needed for maximum effect…blahblah wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 12:02And we didn't vote Brexit for all this decimal rubbish....
