Re: CR7
Odds are an advertisement really, some expressions attract more betting than others even when they are less valuable. That’s why you get stuff like 100/30.
People see odds like 6/4 and think they are buying something bigger than 2/1. Yes really. So when you are running a book you can create these lumps in the value curve with fractional odds that you cannot with decimal odds.
Humans are weird.
Remember; half the people out there are below average intelligence and the other half aren’t much better.
It’s only a very small number of people who actually pay attention to anything.

It’s like politics, the art of convincing stupid people that you’re going to make their lives better (the vast majority of politicians have no intention of even trying to do so, whereas the rest have good intentions until they are confronted with reality…)

It looks like he will be released from the Portugal squad early to head to Manchester, One Football reporting, as he is suspended from the next international game. A few more days training with the squad than expected so I would guess based on that it is likely that he will start.

There was a fast food burger company in the US who tried to outdo McDonalds by releasing a 1/3 pound burger to give more value than the Maccies 1/4 pdr and they went out of business because the public thought 1/4 was bigger than 1/3.Stu255 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2021, 12:42 Odds are an advertisement really, some expressions attract more betting than others even when they are less valuable. Portugal's 2nd game is a friendly vs Qatar and the 3rd is a qualifier vs Azerbaijan. The question is does the ban only apply to competitive matches?

Tickets for MNUNEW apparently changing hands for £2,500.

Could have gone to the World Cup Final for less than that.
He’s going to slip a disc in the first 15 minutes isn’t he.

Re: CR7
The Irish players are elite.
Ronaldo a day after becoming the all time leading scorer in international football (national sport of UK) is not considered an elite sportsperson and was refused free entry into UK.
Man Utd applied for the waiver, but it was refused for Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the highest paid and most widely recognised sportsperson on the surface of the Earth.
Did none of you watch Afghanistan news? Why are you surprised about our government?

Re: CR7
Because Portugal is on the amber list
As I understand it - the govt are no longer giving exemption to elite players who have been in countries on the red list. But, those visiting amber list countries still get exemption - so the Irish are OK to come back.
Because Ronaldo is not classified as an elite player, he does not get the amber exemption.
I am just making this stuff up as I go along ... (but it's my best guess)

Re: CR7
Ronaldo didn't go out and come back. He is just coming in from an amber list country so sports exemption doesn't count.
I think.
The Premier League are breaking rules to soothe his ego, the government aren't.
