Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
I realised just now that Jay Rodriguez re-signed for Burnley this summer, and is priced at just 6.0. Ok, so not the most exciting cheap striking prospect and with competition from Barnes and Wood, but JRod has some pedigree in the PL, I wonder if there's any chance that he becomes a first choice pick for Burnley? He was WBA's pen taker last season, any chance he takes that role at Burnley?
Obviously quite a lot of options in the range, Deulofeu? Jota? King? Pukki? Ings? Who's your favourite to start well/do well over the season, are you taking 0, 1, 2 maybe even 3 from this range?

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
At the moment I have Jota and Deulofeu (alongside Haller). They did well last season, pass the eye test for me and especially a fan of Jota since he moved on top. His stats seem somewhat 'flawed' as he looked a lot more threatening at the end of the season where he was positioned higher up the pitch. Europa League, eh don't care.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
I'm watching Jota now against city in the PL Asian Trophy.
Difficult game for both sides on a somewhat dodgy pitch, but wolves holding their own against the champions. Long term Jota probably the best of the 6.5s for me, although King leads the poll currently.
Might do some stats comparisons between Jota and the top 2/3 in the poll.

I’ve currently got King up top with Kane in my team, Bournemouth’s early fixtures are good and King is a proven goal scorer over the last few years. Also I may be wrong but I think he takes pens?

I’ve got Gray and Adams at the moment. I think Gray might be on penalties.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
King (30%), Jota (21%), Del (18%) are the current poll leaders.
If Ings/Adams or both were guaranteed a start, would you put them above those three?
Here's some understat comparisons for the players, xG90, xA90 and sh90 should be self explanatory, xGChain90 is "the total xG of every possession the player is involved in per 90":
King vs Jota (SMALL SAMPLE WARNING: This is Jota when playing as a striker, so 1400 odd minutes)
King vs Del
King vs Ings
And for some context, here's King vs Jimenez and Wilson

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
I currently have King and Jota but haven’t updated my draft for awhile and am leaning towards starting with Gerry D over Jota, even if I think the latter is better long term.
The same fella on Reddit who did the analysis of the premium strikers has done the same for the 6.5 and 6.0 strikers. Tl;dr - Gerry D the pick of the 6.5s and Ings the pick of the 6.0 but obviously a very risky differential given injury history.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
I like Ings but the fixtures are dreadful, if he were 5.5 I'd be more tempted but at just 0.5 cheaper than all the strong 6.5 options whenever I pick him I end up finding the .5 to turn him into a Jota or Deulofeu etc.
He's too expensive to bench and with Liv, Tot, Utd, Che, all in his first 8 I can't see him doing that well, even the "easier" games such a Burnley/Brighton/Sheffield United are all away from home so could be tricky for the Saints.
If DCL can hold down a place the fixtures make him a better pick than Ings for me, even though I think Ings is a much better striker.

If Giroud is 7m, I'm longing for Batshuayi and Abraham to be less.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
All the budget strikers feel a bit punty as there's no team with a decent fixture run in the first 6 games other than Bournemouth but prefer Wilson over King. Feel Kane or Auba could would be better in the short term until a budget striker appears from the group that's been named above or when the fixtures ease a little for these teams

Definitely trying to spell 'Ings' with the talons...
A clear 'I' then 'n' with the right foot, and is obviously pondering how to finish the name with the left, with most of a 'g' done.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
Is anyone considering Origi.. I know he takes up a Liverpool slot.. But at 5.5, I fancy him at in the 1st few games to kick on after the way he finished the season.
Worst case he is my 1st off the bench. He will at least get 15ish mins some games as sub and only a bump from firmino away from playing.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
I find it tough not to own Greenwood in my drafts, but he's exactly the type of player who will eventually drop in price due to high active ownership. It won't take much in the transfer market for him to be nowhere near the team again...

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
There's a chance he is the only 4.5 forward who plays any minutes, in which case he would be the highest scoring 4.5 forward. I suspect more people would actually buy him than sell him in that case. It's really different from last season's Hudson-Odoi, because there are plenty of 4.5 midfielders to choose from and some of them scores a haul in the first few gameweeks.

Re: Budget stikers (4.5-6.5)
If he doesn't play a part in the first couple of GWs I would predict a few price drops, however with the info we have at the moment he's worth a gamble. Let's hope we at least get a clear signal with regards to maybe Lukaku leaving or something along those lines.

Then there those wide roles with James, Martial, maybe Lingard. Sanchez is still on the payroll.Mav3rick wrote:If he doesn't play a part in the first couple of GWs I would predict a few price drops, however with the info we have at the moment he's worth a gamble. We just have to wait and see how willing Ole wants to play the kids.
