Potential impact of Afcon on GW1
I suppose we should all have an early alert in our head - there's been a number of international tournaments this summer and it could be that they (the Afcon in particular) affect FPL.
While Pulisic & Jimenez face off in the final of the Gold Cup on 8th July (and Jesus, Firmino, Aguero, Willian, Ederson, Allison, Richarlison, Sanchez, and a few others, have one more Copa America game before then), it seems fair to guess there's enough time for a mini-break and some pre-season training for all of them before the season kicks off on 9th August...
...but just about every man and his dog has one of Salah/Mane in their drafts. Given the way the draw has gone, Egypt/Senegal can't meet till the final and are currently the 1st/2nd favourites for the tournament. The final itself is on 17th July (the semis on 14th), which is just over 3 weeks before the first PL fixture, so does that make one/both of them potential early doubts for NOR on the opening day?
Has anyone played around with a starting lineup without either of the Liverpool big guns?
There's also the likes of Mahrez for Algeria (3rd favourites) and Zaha/Aurier for Ivory Coast (4th favourites) in danger.

I think there's a good chance we will know Liverpool's GW1 lineup before the deadline. Anyway, if we do get to know it then it probably happens just very close to the deadline though, so obviously we should have a backup plan prepared before that.

I've got neither and feel happy with my side hopefully they don't start and people transfer them out quickly then could always play the wildcard and pick them up a bit cheaper lol

With the Community Shield and the Super Cup either side of the first PL fixture, and that first fixture being Norwich (a coincidence?), there must be some logic in benching Salah or Sane and using them only if need be. Four games in 2 weeks is a pretty tight start to the season. I imagine Klopp would like to give MC a good go in the Shield - maybe the Super Cup is deemed less of a concern than Norwich?

Definitely going to keep my eye on it and will probably need to make another draft without Salah so I know what to switch to should we find out late he isn't playing. Won't worry too much until the week of the 1st game though.
Can't see the other tournaments having much impact though

International tournaments and opening GWs
It's probably a thing being touched on elsewhere but with half of Planet Earth holding international tournaments, are you discouraged from using players from the ACON, Gold Cup and Copa America and opt purely for European players or does it depend on what stage their country is eliminated at?

With that in mind, who would entertain the idea of Origi as their third budget forward?cymbalrush84 wrote:It's probably a thing being touched on elsewhere but with half of Planet Earth holding international tournaments, are you discouraged from using players from the ACON, Gold Cup and Copa America and opt purely for European players or does it depend on what stage their country is eliminated at?

I'm stacked with their defence, otherwise I would be pondering it. No & Bobby finished last weekend, Keira and Mane with 2 more matches....

Mahrez stays and Zaha leaves after a strange Pen Shootout, both having been subbed off late on.
