On the basis of a planned WC after game week 4, I think Ederson is best so I will start with him.

After that, I will go down the £4.5m and £4.0m route.

Either, Ryan/Steele, Lossl/Hamer, Boruc/Begovic, Guaita/Speroni, Patricio/Norris.

gw5-10, BOU look to have the best fixtures so I will probably go with that pair but as this is a long term (until the next WC) I don't think that really matters.

Bar Edersen, but I'd rather use a City spot elsewhere with those fixtures.
I too am currently holding Ed as my keeper. Maybe not may save points but equally hopeful of c/s points.

In reference to the City spots comment, if someone could guarantee me some attacking players starting each and every week, I'd happily jump on board however with the WC etc, I don't see anyone starting all 8 weeks.
I was thinking, Mendy, Sane/Mahrez and Aguero. Can switch Sane or Mahrez to KDB too.

Merry has been tipped by Pep to being very important to him in this years wing back role in the 352 system he wants to implement. Sane might suffer from this, so Mahrez could be a better option.

Edersen's wife is having a baby soon, so he could miss a game or two from that as well.
The Mendy rumor is nonsense and just doing the rounds, watch the press conference, he says that Mendy is back and that gives him options - i.e. Mendy for rotation.

He also said that they could use many systems this year and that 352 was one of them...not that he'd mostly be using it.

Merry if he kicks off like last season will be Pepin's first choice mate, blokes a fantastic player.

Did anyone notice that Hamer (4.0) started Huddersfields last friendly against RBL on Friday? Lossl played the second half but is there any doubt over the number one position there?

I had a quick look at a hudderfield forum and they all have Lossl as the starter for their predicted lineups against Chelsea though.

Begovic and Fabianski rotate quite well over the first 5 or so gameweeks.

So, Pickford and Stek for me currently

Everton have been leaking for fun, but Pickford will be back and should rack up the save points in a poor defence, and hopefully start to stem the flow of goals. Great fixtures.

Thoughts?

I think it's got to be worth seeing how Heaton's injury is. If he's confirmed either in or out for a few weeks then I'd be fairly happy to start with him or Lindegaard.

Watch out for Burnley's Europa League qualifications. I think that is a factor in the early season.

Joe Hart is also having a medical at Burnley apparently - weird one considering he kept saying his priority for his next move was first team football.

If anything they should be better for it early on, having played competitive matches. Fatigue on the squad shouldn't be an issue now, but may well be as the EL campaign progresses I agree.

Not just having played, they will play it every single Thursday in August if they go through from Q3.

Aug 9, UEL away
Aug 12, GW1 Southampton away
Aug 16, UEL home
Aug 19, GW2 Watford home
Aug 23 UEL (assuming they have proceeded)
Aug 25 GW3 Fulham away
Aug 30 UEL (assuming they have proceeded)
Sep 1 GW4 Man United home

That seems quite a busy schedule to me!

And now I actually wonder whether those Fulham and Man United matches have to be moved on to Sunday or Monday?

I didn't quite realise that they had so many EL games in August I must admit.

I have decided to go with Pickford/Stekelenburg combo.
I have gone with rotating GK's in past seasons and it is so frustrating when you pick the wrong one!
This way, at least I won't get wound up!

Not a massive fan of rotating keepers as previous posters have pointed out you often miss out on their hauls in the tougher fixtures where it looked unlikely to keep a cleanie, so I'm either considering a set and forget Fab or Pickford (I know Everton' s defence is crap, save points should be good though), or attempting a rotation with Fab and Foster.

I'm not keen on a set and forget Edersen because I'm sure I'll want Mendy, a City mid and Aguero.

Does anyone know a better rotational pair than Foster and Fab? I'm definitely not keen on Bournemouth, Ryan is appealing though.

Pickford/Foster rotate better but there's an element of form there and it costs 0.5m extra.

Personally, I'm hoping (waiting) for a set and forget 5.0m option to appear at Chelsea.

I'd be happy enough to start with Fabianski and Foster if I had he cash free, but it feels such such an easy place to steal 0.5m from early doors when my eyes are bigger than my belly in terms of outfielders.

So is everyone here hoping Courtois leaves and Chelsea buy Pickford?

I guess Stekelenburg at 4.0m would be set in stone then, and paired with another 4.0m or Pickford 5.0m.

Courtois can still be sold to a Real Madrid on Friday up until August 31st, Pickford to another PL club has to happen before Friday.

That's the window for PL teams to buy plays IN, they can still sell players to other countries until their respective windows close, in most of the big leagues that's the end of August, although in China it's even longer.

Any chance they could make this 3.5m his FPL price as well?

Ryan is good value, but Bournemouth's defence is poor, largely due to the system and tactics Howe plays with. Better of just setting forgetting Ryan IMO or finding someone better to rotate with. He has a good chance of keeping a cleanie vs United etc and racking up save points in difficult fixtures and possible penalty saves.
