Not really very early, more like 12 months late. Even I would be able to pick a decent entry for last year's football.

Yep, the new layout looks good. Not had time to play about yet but early impressions are an improvement. :P

Although Ronaldo (or Ronalgone) is hugely priced considering he is injured and likely to be transferred...

I've picked an initial line up already!

Have to say, I prefered being able to see who each player is playing in the current week when making transfers, rather than how it is now with a separate fixture list.

Hope you don't mind Lee, but I've edited your thread title slightly to indicate league details are here. :D

No worries at all about the change, also agree about the fixtures - a nightmare when double headers arrive but on the whole looks an improvement especially the way you can pick a player now by team/position and value.

Just let me know if I can join any leagues as I would be interested.

Cheers again,

Lee

OK, the Sultan of Barnet FC is in the league.

Any one wanting to join my Champions League game (now in it's 3rd year) can.

Group ID#: 1157
Password: hans2008

The league is for 48 teams, who are put into groups who then play each other to find their rank. Then go into another set of groups. Then it becomes a knock out competition to win the Champions League or UEFA cup.

I am working on up dating the web site now, that will give more info. You can check out last years comp deatils at http://yahoofooty.741.com

This will be there for a week or so while I work on the new season site.

Yes, You can join up to six groups/leagues (if they have kept it the same as last year) with your team. I am already in 4 myself. One of those must be the team group you signed up with, eg Arsenal, Man U or like me Others.

So far I have 46 teams in the league, and need 48 for the game to work.
Only trouble is, one place was reserved for a chap on holiday. So I changed the code to be sure he got his spot in the league. That said once he is in, there is one spot left and the 2 reserve spots. These are for when we kick someone off. We do every year, they stop fielding teams when they get bored etc. So you never know you might still get in

I really do enjoy the Yahoo FF as it is different to most of the others. It may take you a few weeks to get use to it but bear with it. It is fun!!

I agree with my good fellow above.
I like the fact you pick a team to suit the fixtures not the whole season. Differant to almost all games, the new Starting 11 being the other game like this.

I may not be good at the game, but I do love it. juggling the finances each week to get the best team you can to suit that weeks fixtures. It gets harder as players prices rise, you will have to maybe keep a few banker players (Ronaldo, Torres for example) as later you may not be able to afford them and other good players.
This maybe why I'm not so good at the game, from what I've seen over the years the best Yahoo players are those that change almost whole team every week. I'm not that brave. I normally have 4 or 5 players all season (unless injured) and pick the rest of the squad to suit the fixtures eg from the teams playing Stoke, Hull or any other team that may struggle. :)

Well I appear to be second in the FISO league and 1857th overall after the first week, so quite pleased with that. I guess the best thing to do is to pick a team for the weekend early in the week before prices rise, bring in the players like to do best in the weekend's fixtures but keep players you bought really cheap who should do well whoever they play as you don't keep the profits you make on them. Is that about right?

Yep, pretty much spot on that! Although you tend to become a little sad making transfers every Sat teatime before the players values are updated.

It can be worthwhile though as I put a few players in this week whose values have increase by a total of about 20 points, therefore I would have had no chance had I left it until the following day.

I tend to mix the majority of my team up each week depending on the opposition, also try and pick a keeper whom I think his team will win and get a clean sheet as keepers can score high points (Or lose a lot if you pick a donkey).

I usually avoid teams who rotate their squad a lot (Eg Liverpool) as it drives me insane when I do not have all eleven players playing...

Hope this helps.

I don't like the new interface this season - find it much less friendly to use than the old one. Is it just me being a GOM?!

As you may have read else where I help run a Champions League/UEFA Cup saide game using Yahoo.
If teams don't field teams for 2 weeks they get kicked out. I am going to do this to one team this week. So if anybody fancies taking their place PM me and I will send you the codes needed.
If you want to check out the game see this site I have set up to show scores and groups etc.

http://blueprintcpi.angelfire.com/index.html

Please note: you will also inherit teams points in their group. But as we are still in the first group stage, which only finds seeding for second group stage no real harm will be done. It is the second group stage that see's if you qualify for the Champs League or the UEFA cup.

Also if more than one applies, the first will get the open spot and others would only be reserves for future evictions (made 3 so far).

Just added myself into the league, but if I have to start from 0 points, I'll be taking myself out again. :|

EDIT : And no, I won't be top of the FISO league, before anyone asks. I believe I will slot in 14th place.

Just had a look at this today, and I notice they haven't bothered to put in the points for Man U v Fulham.

Another competition to abandon.
