Mirror/Betway warning
I deposited some money into a Betway account to enable me to play in cash leagues in The Mirror game .
I was credited with a £25 bonus .
I tried to withdraw some of my money and was informed that I couldn't .
If you use the bonus to bet with , it has consequences http://betway.com/help/betway-full-terms-conditions" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
'2. Wagering
2.1 All Welcome Bonuses must be wagered 15 times in Sportsbook before any funds can be withdrawn. The following weightings apply:-
• 100% – Sportsbets with decimal odds 2.0 (fractional odds 1/1) and above will count towards wagering requirements.
• 0% – Sportsbets with decimal odds below 2.0 (fractional odds below 1/1) will not count towards wagering requirements'
I phoned Betway and they told me I could ask them to remove the bonus from my account to enable me to withdraw my money .
I called them , asked them to withdraw the bonus and have since withdrawn my money .
I was credited with a £25 bonus .

Normally you are a bit quicker off the mark than this Andy. Even before I'd seen Betway's history, I flagged the "ambiguity" regarding withdrawing funds several days ago even though one poster slagged me off for making assumptions (which I hadn't) when I said that the whole thing (referring to the potential difficulty of withdrawing funds after you'd been allocated a welcome bonus) was unsatisfactory.

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
Excuse the thickness but does that mean for a £25 bonus you have to make bets totalling £375 at odds of evens of higher before you can withdraw anything (should you have anything left to withdraw)?

And the Mirror thought it was a good idea to link up with these crooks?

At the rate I bet that would take at least 3 yearsandye wrote:Yes - that is why I started this threadVid wrote:Excuse the thickness but does that mean for a £25 bonus you have to make bets totalling £375 at odds of evens of higher before you can withdraw anything (should you have anything left to withdraw)?
Did you keep the 4 teams/ £10 deposited or have they been removed?

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
It cost me £20 to enter a cash league - this counted as a bet and therefore gained me 8 team credits . I still have those creditsVid wrote:At the rate I bet that would take at least 3 yearsandye wrote:Yes - that is why I started this threadVid wrote:Excuse the thickness but does that mean for a £25 bonus you have to make bets totalling £375 at odds of evens of higher before you can withdraw anything (should you have anything left to withdraw)?

I believe you cannot use your bonus to enter cash leagues - I forget where I read that
EDIT - from the terms and conditions
11.2 Paid Mates Leagues
Bonus cash awarded by Betway cannot be used to enter Paid for Mates Leagues

putting it into perspective a little, last year it cost about £5 per team. This year even if you never recover any of the money lodged with betway it will only be £2.50 per team. Although the season prizes are lower, so long as you regard the betway 'investment' as very high risk and any return as a bonus, the potential loss there is not critical.

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
The trick with these kind of bonuses is to try and lose them. Bear with me.......Bet the bonus on something with long odds that you think will lose, lay the same bet on Betfair. You lose the bonus with Betway that you couldn't withdraw anyway and you're free to withdraw your betfair profitVid wrote:Excuse the thickness but does that mean for a £25 bonus you have to make bets totalling £375 at odds of evens of higher before you can withdraw anything (should you have anything left to withdraw)?

If you place your £25 free bet on a 40to1 shot, you'll need to deposit £1,000 with Betfair in order to lay the same bet.
If the bet loses, you can withdraw the £1,025 from Betfair.
If the bet wins, your grand on Betfair is gone and you now have £1,025 in an account with a bookie that needs reinvesting (several times over?) before you can hopefully withdraw?

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
Well, you don't have to find the biggest odds you can! I normally go with something around 8/1. Plus you can usually do it as a series of smaller bets if you don't want too much in betfair.
(plus even if you did win, only the 25 needs to be rolled over, not the other 1000. So you simply go again, although you might want to choose something at slightly smaller odds this time )

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
Has anyone else recently had a £5 bonus credited to their account ? I placed a £10 bet on Plymouth beating Portsmouth last night in order to get 4 new teams and only realised after that a £5 bonus had been credited to my account
Betway are now saying that i need to wager a further £65 before i can get my remaining £25 back This is ridiculous

Greenie. Could you please PM me with your user name and I will sot this out for you (or any other player who has had an issue with unsolicited bonus money).
Betway reconfigured their sign up platform to only offer promo money if opted in to at point of deposit and for the wagering requirements to be clearly stated. I have a feeling you have been credited as part of a campaign run for other betway customers.
Cheers
John

Re: Mirror/Betway warning
Any money you deposit with Betway to get team credits should be written off. They have a lot of dubious conditiions regarding bonuses and withdrawals. If you manage to withdraw any money see it as a bonus. Look on it as your entry fee for teams. Any other attitude will just drive you up the wall.GREENIE wrote:Has anyone else recently had a £5 bonus credited to their account ?
