TFFCH Prize League and Cup

Post by SamD »

Week 25 (games to Sat 30 Jan)

Well done to the two centurions: ForestJono, 106, and fil16, 103.
As luck would have it they face each other in the Cup (see below).
Bramernic, 94, and tommymooney, 90, are next best this week.

In the league, Chief Wiggsy sees his lead cut by another 24 points.
Melvin maintains his excellent recent form to lie just eight away.
Both managers are the first to four-figure scores: 1,017 & 1,009.

Is there a giant-killing in the offing, or is it just a plucky first half effort followed by the inevitable annihilation?
Do I have the leader worried (it'd be the first time  )?

I'm the 106, was quite smug the other day until I realised that it's spread over two weeks! I'll probably blow it in the 2nd half :)

Its a cracker of a tie mate, but would gladly go out of this if I can hold on to a top 3 finish in our league.

Congrats to Bramernic who knocks the second seed out in the first round of the TFFCH League Cup:

Code: Select all

seed wk25 wk26 total

15 Mike Whitaker 94 29 123
Full results and league update will be published before Week 27 begins on Tues 9 Feb.

In the meantime, feel free to add your own Cup success story (or excuse)...

Congrats, you win by 2 points! My downfall was transferring in West Brom's Dorrens and Thomas yesterday who managed to miss a peno and get sent off between them.
Oh well, at least Forest won :D

Just scraped through in the end in a very high scoring tie, the Thomas sending off did you as I also had Dorrans.

I would have been more than happy with a point against Forest but at least it wasn't a thrashing, so on to the home game against Blackpool on Tuesday (with their main man now missing thanks to that ridiculous booking against Leicester)

Up for the Cup

Post by SamD »

League Cup First Round

Congratulations to the winners of the initial eight ties, some of whom may count themselves lucky…
Who'd claim the Cup isn't a lottery, eg: given that Nolan's assist isn't recognized by TFFCH?

Anyway, closest encounters of the three kind:
- NFG, farmerbob & melvin squeeze through by a point or two against Jester, axel & ForestJono.

Biggest margins, and no excuses here, are 31 and 30 points in the bottom quarter of the draw:
- Bramernic and tommymooney marmalizing the chairman and fil16.

All in all, higher-seeded teams progress in just three of the line-ups.
Results:

Come along then Mr Owen ....... lets see what you're made of.

I'm still perplexed how to push this team on any more. Recent transfers just are not paying off and finding strikers that score well at the moment seems tricky considering hoe easy it was a few months back. Need certain players that have gone flat recent to get going again.

Must admit my last 3 transfers have all been a disaster as well, especially bringing back Fryatt just as he gets a serious injury and picking a player by accident that don't even play (that will come back to haunt me come May that's for sure).

Chief Wiggsy...let battle commence

I think a lot of people have been stumped by Newcastle virtually changing their team overnight and Adam Johnson joining Man City. I did quite well (6th overall) in the League One comp last year but I'm finding this quite difficult. You think a team has finally found some form and then they lose three on the trot!!

Indeed we did. Time for revenge methinks!
So you are nine points ahead at the end of week 1...still all to play for! (but that is a useful lead you have)

103 points for you Jan suggests you have got it right this week

Cheers lads, about time this team of miscreants had a few lucky breaks. Don't think there's much chance of challenging for the top....let's hope for another decent week in the cup and maybe a tilt at the semi-finals....

Bram has increased his lead to 10 after the midweek games. Its going to be a tough ask to claw that back...!

edited to reduce Bram's lead to 10 - I can't count!

01 Simon Holman 78
09 Geraint Owen 103

I need a bloomin' miracle.!! Ain't gotten a chance. May of done if Brom would of held of The Royals with a CS, but no chance now me thinks. Still, silver linings, Reading get to the 1/4's and I feel it will be a positive destraction that'll help them survive relegation. Hmmm, maybe I should not of said that.

I'm surprised it's that much really. I've taken my eye off the ball recently because I've got a couple of projects I'm trying to conclude at the moment. I was just glancing through repoirts after the 3pm games had started and realised one of my players won't be playing for a few games. Then I checked my team history and found I didn't take a 5 point hit. Perhaps red cards after the final whistle don't count?

If I lose Bram I will look back at Cleverley's sending off (I brought him in that day) and Hooper's missed pen (yep, I brought him yesterday) as my errors!!

Cheers Bram. Despite my moans in the previous post, I was lucky to have Brunt this week, who made most of the difference?
