TFF Championship chit chat 4th, 5th and 6th August
Hello and welcome to the first Championship chit chat thread of the season.
For those that don't know, it gives a brief write-up on the forthcoming fixtures and gives us a place to put team news and score updates, etc. (a bit like the weekly TFF chit chat threads for the Prem)
I'm no expert on the Championship so any assistance with highlighting players to pick, injuries etc. would be appreciated.
FRIDAY 4TH AUGUST
19:45 Nottm Forest V Millwall
Newly promoted Millwall take on Forest at The City Ground. The Lions would be grateful of a point in their inaugural Championship fixture.
19:45 Sunderland V Derby
Newly relegated Sunderland are at home to The Rams. Both of these teams will be hoping to be challenging for the title come May.
SATURDAY 5TH AUGUST
15:00 Bristol City V Barnsley
The battle of the Bs sees Bristol play Barnsley in this 3pm fixture. City will be fairly upbeat after recently winning The Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup.
15:00 Burton V Cardiff
The Championship's own Welsh Wizards from Wales take on Burton at The Pirelli Stadium. Hopefully Burton will not be feeling too ‘tyred' this early in the season...
15:00 Fulham V Norwich
Another fixture featuring a pair of potential title rivals. Fulham were not as good as the press thought last season and since the Canaries swapped managers their form improved. Expect a close match
15:00 Ipswich V Birmingham
In deepest, darkest East Anglia, Birmingham are the visitors. Harry Redknapp will be hoping to lead the Blues to glory.
15:00 Preston V Sheff Wed
Sheff Wed were another team who failed in the play off semi finals against Huddersfield, who eventually went up. PNE finished in mid-table in 2016/17.
15:00 QPR V Reading
Reading will be hoping to go one better this season, but their talismanic striker, Yann Kermorgant is injured. They still beat QPR in pre-season though!
15:00 Sheff Utd V Brentford
Sheffield United welcome The Bees to Bramall Lane. Utd are newly promoted and Brentford finished comfortably mid-table last season.
15:00 Wolves V Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough we relegated back to the Championship to take on free spending Wolves at Molineux
17:30 Aston Villa V Hull
John Terry’s mighty Villa take on The Tigers who were relegated back to the Championship after a brief sojourn in the Prem. Will Oblongfloor score? Brucie will be hoping for a good game, good game!
SUNDAY 6TH AUGUST
16:30 Bolton V Leeds
The Sunday afternoon fixture features Leeds visiting Bolton. Leeds are another team who would fancy themselves for promotion.
Good luck everyone for the season ahead

Re: TFF Championship chit chat 4th, 5th and 6th August
What is the best site for prompt championship team news?
I normally only check the Forest line up which is easily done an hour before on the club website but I cant be doing that for all 24 clubs!
BBC is slow and does not announce championship team news til 20-30 mins before at the very best, where can I get the line ups all in one place an hour before?

I use Twitter. Pop all the clubs into a list and it's a doddle.

Why do so many people have Costa in their teams?
I actually planned on trusting the masses in this game rather than doing my own research

I suspect most will have at least one Boro defender.
I've got Billy Sharp in a couple of teams and also got the Bristol City striker who's got a goal and KC in one team.
Other than that. Not great.
