TFF/FPL Combo Cup - 2011/12
Hi all
Welcome to the TFF/FPL Combo Cup!!!
This did not happen last year but is now revived for the 2011/12 season
The Draw
- I have used Excel to randomly allocate each player to a group.
- There will be 9 groups of 4 teams in Groups A to I. It will follow a Champions League style format.
How it works
Group Stage
- As in the Champions League, teams in each group will play each other 'home and away' over a period of 6 FPL gameweeks (see below).
- Based on your combined TFF/FPL points scored in each fixture you will receive 3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw and 0pts for a loss. I doubt we'll get any draws but you never know!!!
- The 9 Group winners plus the best 7 runners up will qualify for the Knockout Stage.
If two or more teams are equal on points the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:
a) higher number of game points (ie the FPL+TFF points) obtained in the group matches;
b) superior points difference (FPL+TFF) from the group matches;
Fixture Dates (Week commencing)
The group games will take 6 game weeks and the weeks are based on FPL weeks.
It will commence in GW 10 (29 Oct 2011) and the group games will end in GW 15 (3 December 2011). If less than 75% of games take place in a GW then the GW will not count toward the cup and will be extended by an extra GW
Knockout Stage
- There will be a Christmas break before this starts but the format will be again, like the Champions League. The aim is to start this in GW21 (14 Jan 2012)
- The 9 group winners and 7 best runners-up will be randomly drawn in a last 16 straight knockout over 2 legs (GW 21 and GW 22)
- In the highly unlikely event of a draw after 2 legs have been played then the fixture will go into 'Extra Time' (You will play each other again the following TFF gameweek).
- The winners of each fixture will go into the draw for the Quarter Finals.
[Last 16
- Knockout with home and away
Fixture Dates (Week commencing)
FPL GW 21 and 22
Quarter Finals
Randomly drawn from winners from the last 16 games
Knockout with home and away legs (prob game weeks 25 +26)
Semi-Finals
- Same 2 legged format again but the fixtures will be based on the following:
Winner of Quarter Final 1 vs Winner of Quarter Final 2
Winner of Quarter Final 3 vs Winner of Quarter Final 4
Fixture Dates (Week commencing)
TBC but probably GW 29 and 30
Final
- One leg and winner takes all. Hopefully in GW 33.
Some of the dates may change based on international breaks and postponements etc but there is plenty of leeway in between the stages to take account of this.
I hope that all makes sense and good luck!!!
Any questions or ideas welcome
The groups will be posted later this week together with the group fixtures
Cheers

Very enterprising Surprised, but will our managerial salaries be increased, to take account of the extra work and stress this will involve ?
My players will also be demanding increased wages, but whilst it's probably true that they'll be knackered if they progress beyond the qualifiers, they can sod off.

Re: TFF/FPL Combo Cup - 2011/12
Some players, like Tevez, will probably demand more money but they need to prove themselves. Maybe put them on goal and clean sheet bonuses (or just transfer them out if they kick up a fuss)
The Combo managers are playing for something that money cannot buy. Do well in the cup and maybe next year there will be seedings and you can avoid the top gteams at the group stage.
Will grob's name be on the Combo cup trophy this season?
Will anybody do the league and cup double?
There will be a new name on the cup as the 2009/10 winner is not in the competition and only 1 of the semi finalists is playing this year.

I need to make some changes as some teams are not ranked correctly according to points difference. Doesn't matter as yet but may be important toward the end.

When the groups were done it they all looked pretty even but since then those in your group have had a run of good form and are all at the top of the main table.
It's only week 1 of the cup so plenty of time to pull things round.

Re: TFF/FPL Combo Cup - 2011/12
There is a small problem with the cup scores which I need to correct. It affects last weeks too but I only noticed this week as total points seemed too high. It changes 1 result from last week. The error was why the scores last week were so high.
Correct scores will be reposted and this rounds scores by tomorrow evening. I will leave the old scores and tables so you can see the changes.
Sorry guys
