OK boys and girls...
Probably the hardest sidegame to win on FISO is up and running!!!
I'll be posting the leagues once the the GW has finished but please feel free to boast/worry about your scores in the meantime.
Has your cheap enabler done the business or has your big hitting Captain got double points already???
On the flipside... how did your safe picks do...? Worse than you thought...?
It's a long, long season the EPL but I really hope you all have fun playing this side comp and for the last time...
Good Luck to all!!!
Thanks for playing and also a big thanks to blahblah for coming up with this idea last season.
Cheers

Well Agger being Raffatated hasn't given me the best of starts. Also tinkered my TFF side at the last minute to get a bit of Everton coverage in defence. I took Steinsson out.

My last-minute TFF replacement for Figueroa was Steinsson So nearly got a CS to go with his goal. My other points scorers in both games are probably well-selected by the rest of you so probably won't make a lot of difference.

DD for the TFF/FPL equivalence calculation are you using the ratio I calculated last season? Really it should be updated as it was back of fag packet stuff

I know - I worked it out just checked the thread (see mid Aug 07) and backed up my thoughts that it was theoretical as TFF rules had changed and it contained assumptions based off that. I guess if you've declared it already then it should stay as-is, no material points scoring changes that I can think of for this season but it would be good to test the 1.2:1 against last years top scorers in either gameDixieDean wrote:I'm using what was discussed and sort of agreed last year... So when do TFF update the scores? Considering FPL have updated 1.2 million teams' scores, it's not exactly unreasonable to expect the Tele to have worked out a few hundred thousand by now, is it?

I can change it if people feel there is a fairer amount that TFF scores should be increased by. I wouldn't know where to start though in working it out myself!!!

for this season it literally just needs to be a check of the two leaderboards against each other for proportion of scores e.g. if 1st in FPL 07/08 was 2600 and TFF was 2100 then the ratio is 2600/2100 = 1.24, sense check that for a few positions and see if it comes out near 1.2. You can't do it based on anything other than end of season scores as TFF contains the FA Cup which throws it out week by week.DixieDean wrote:I can change it if people feel there is a fairer amount that TFF scores should be increased by. I disagree you should just go off the winning scores (though your 'sense check a few positions' would help)Vannie wrote:for this season it literally just needs to be a check of the two leaderboards against each other for proportion of scores e.g. if 1st in FPL 07/08 was 2600 and TFF was 2100 then the ratio is 2600/2100 = 1.24, sense check that for a few positions and see if it comes out near 1.2. All I'd need to do is tweak my spreadsheet slightly.
For example say in TFF the average weekly score is 35 but reasonable weekly scores range from 20 to 50.
And say in FPL maybe the average weekly score is 50 but reasonable weekly scores range from 35 to 65.
In this example the spread of scores is equal so no scaling is required.
I know those figures are nothing accurate (maybe 35 to 75 for FPL? But FA Cup counts too in TFF...), but my point is any scaling should be based on the 'spread' of scores (aka standard deviation, for any stattos!), not just the leading score or mean score.
As it is, I think the factor of 1.2 is about right (and would turn out to be damn close if we did a standard deviation analysis on the two leagues at the end of the season)

Agreed but worked on the basis that LB history to say top 100 is probably available for 07/08 but data further down will be patchier. Also would need to do an apportionment of the positions based on entry numbers so e.g. 10th in FPL might only equate to 30th in TFF.reds363 wrote:scaling should be based on the 'spread' of scores (aka standard deviation, for any stattos!), not just the leading score or mean score.

I've posted the leagues as they look today (before any KOs) just so you get a feel for how you are doing overall in this comp. I'm not sure whether I'll do this every week because it could just get confusing.
I'll post the 'official' GW1 leagues tomorrow once The Telegraph update their scores.

Ended the weekend on 66 in FPL and 54 in TFF, hopefully will be a little higher when tomorrow's update comes in.
PS Just a suggestion, would you consider adding in a ".0" in the combined table for the players on a whole number score, it will align all the numbers and I think the table may just read a bit better.
