Combined FPL/TFF Side Comp 2008/9
Hi guys
There was an attempt to run this last year but it failed to catch on. Mainly because it was set up very late last summer.
The simple idea is that your combined FPL/TFF score is calculated each week and posted in a Superleague on here.
Being the two biggest games on FISO it will be interesting to see which FISOers can grasp the different skills needed for each game and perform well in both over the season.
The rules need setting up but for now I'm just testing the water to see if there would be any interest in this being run next season.
Please post here or on the FPL thread to let me know.
Cheers

I'd be up for getting involved. Never fared well in FPL before this season (when I've finally got the hang of it - the once-a-week transfer actually helps, as does varying the Captain) and currently winning 2 leagues with a team in the top 2000
Of course, next season may see different fortunes but game for a laugh

I play both of these games, so why not. Cheers DD. Will the teams need to be in the main Fiso league?

Well... the idea is to have two dedicated leagues in each game. With FPL you can enter your team into 10 but as we know you can only enter one in TFF.Papa Giddy wrote:I play both of these games, so why not. Cheers DD. Will the teams need to be in the main Fiso league?
I want to do it this way so that I can manage it easily. This is also why I posted on the computers forum re. my Excel sheet which I think you've read.
As the weeks roll by, I'll firm up the rules and try to get feedback but that's my plan for now.
Cheers

Last season, the FPL-TFF Combined mini league, comprising only 16 teams,of which only the top 5 count, still managed to finish 77th of the 112,942 FPL minileagues.DixieDean wrote:

So,even though the TFF scores were only collected for a while, before falling by the wayside, as there will probably be many more teams entered for this properly run combined league next season,77th position in the FPL League of Leagues should easily be beaten, and maybe not do too badly in the TFF League of Leagues either.
There shouldn't be any need for rules next season, other than that people should enter their sole FPL team in the FPL+TFF Combined league + 1 TFF team in the duly specified TFF+FPL minileague.

I suppose the only rule I'm really thinking of is the mismatch of the GWs. as long as eveyone is happy with the two seperate leagues they will have to enter then that's it.

Re: Combined FPL/TFF Side Comp 2008/9
I think as suggested previously, that whoever runs this must do so in a way that makes the admin straightforward, and as you've explained that to achieve this,2 separate leagues must be established, people will go along with this even if some would prefer not to have to enter a separate TFF team in a TFF-FPL combined league.DixieDean wrote:I suppose the only rule I'm really thinking of is the mismatch of the GWs. as long as eveyone is happy with the two seperate leagues they will have to enter then that's it.
Otherwise,we'd probably finish up with a situation where the combined league wouldn't last the course,as happened last season, despite the efforts of several people to keep it going.
Let's hope there aren't any material changes to TFF which might make calculating the TFF/FPL weighting more tricky,e.g Carling Cup being included - though I suppose that factor was already taken care of when the combined league was set up last season, with the FAC having to be factored in to the TFF scores.
By preparing well in advance,as you have been doing, the combined league will probably bring newcomers to both FPL and TFF next season, even without any cash prizes,in the absence of which some people won't play any game.
That obviously excludes FPL players.
