FISO ISO 2021-22
As promised I'll get the new season kicked off.. ISO 2021-2022 is on and everybody on here is welcome to join .
Last year's champ was Coleridge, who rode his luck to pip Reds363 at the final hurdle. He has the honour of picking the final starting line up (and first overhaul line up after week 3 at the start of Sept). I'll stick his final line up in this opening post once he's decided it, I've also set up the mini league (details below).
If you're keen to play give us a nod in this thread and get your team in the mini-league. Please make sure you read the guff below before entering, just so we're all on the same page with the rules, team name etc. If you have any questions, don't be shy, fire away.
Introduction to the game:
The rules of ISO are very simple. Every participant starts with the same (agreed) team line-up, and must make the same (agreed) selection and captain choice over the first day of fixtures. After the first kick off everybody is free to make transfers as they wish until the first overhaul after week 3.
From then onwards, everyone manages their own team as they like, until the first overhaul in Sept when we will all revert again to the same (new) team selection and captain choice for the first post overhaul day of fixtures.
After this it's a free for all, with everyone managing their team as they wish. In May we will see who has managed their transfers best, and who has won ISO 2021-2022
By tradition, the starting (and first overhaul) team is decided by the previous year's ISO winner and following a process of discussion and debate amongst entrants, criticised and changed until a final 11 is settled on. Naturally the initial line up is focussed on the first 3 fixtures given the overhaul, so it can be a bit quirky (last year we started with Vinagre and Dele Alli - which made perfect sense at the time!)
Also by tradition Teams should be called "ISO <username>" (eg. ISO Northernmonkey), it's one team per person. Teams should be in the league by the first weekend.
All teams need to be set to public so we can see each others team (obviously if someone is on the verge of winning the overall sky tournament then of course it would be prudent to take your team private).
Fiso ISO is free to enter and open to everyone and new entrants are most welcome, good natured banter and mind games are to be expected.
ISO Hall of fame:
The competition started back in the good old days of TFFO, then migrated to OFL in 2010, then on to sky in 2017. There's a fine pedigree of previous champions, including some who've done exceedingly well in the overall main competition. The best ever achievement for an ISO team was Marke192, he was pipped in the final week of the season to finish runner up overall in OFL for 2013-14. In 2019-20 Nbbbee10 finished 2nd in the overall Sky league, albeit with his other team.

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Greetings earthlings, early this year we are.
Thanks for getting us up and running Nm , as always happy to take everyone's money in a tenner side league.
Too much water to pass under too many bridges to really put up anything close to a definitive line up, but just to throw a worm for you early birds to chew up and spit out....
Martinez.....7.2
Konsa.........7.5
Dunk..........8.2
Soyuncu......8.2
Saint-maxim.7.9
Raphinha.....8.3
Bruno.........11.8
Buendia.......7.9
Salah.........11.9
Toney...(C)...7.9
Antonio.......8.8
This would leave 4.4m in the bank enabling anyone to anyone.
Wouldn't be opposed to taking a or bust punt on block Villa/Brighton backline
As always thoughts and criticism actively encouraged.
Just to re-iterate what Nm said. New player are always very welcome, Iso really is great fun for your 2nd team.

oh and just to correct an error in the opening post.
Where Nm said "Coleridge, who rode his luck to pip Reds363 at the final hurdle."
He meant to say Coleridge, who managed their transfers perfectly made a heroic late surge to pip Reds363 at the final hurdle.

Very happy with that line-up. Almost Everyone there is either in my team or was at least considered.
Buendia - on my radar, but, given he was there for the Copa America final and he has yet to meat his team-mates, I would think highly unlikely to start game week 1. I'm punting El Ghazi for the first 3 in his place, but definitely want to keep an eye on friendlies/villa forum for the start.

Worth keeping an eye on Leicester's pre-season, as there's a chance they could revert to four at the back, instead of the three centre-halves they ended the season with. If so, then Soyuncu might end up competing with Evans and Fofana for just two spots.
Aside from that, the only ones that are unlikely to make my main team are Konsa, Saint-Maximin and, to a lesser extent, Raphinha. All decent options who could easily score big over the three games, but just a personal preference for players who regularly pick up the bonuses.
Not averse to a block defence if the majority decides. Out of those two, would probably lean more towards Brighton, only because there's still a decent chance of passing bonus if it all goes spectacularly wrong.

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
7 from my current draft so I'm happy. Would be happy with a block defence - probably Brighton (depending on Dunk's fitness) although you already have a Villa double-up. Webster or Veltman perhaps. Given the question marks about Leicester's defensive structure - you could shift from Soyu, although that frees up more money.

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Quite happy with 2/2 Brighton Villa Gk & 3 Def - that's the 2 defences i'm looking at across all formats.

Just noticed its now 4 tackles for 2 bonus points, seems a bit harsh.

Ok ok.. I concede. A fine recovery it was from 100 points back at one stage
Love the team. I’m abroad at the mo so can’t access the player list (even via VPN ). All I’d say is with captains well covered and plenty of ££ in the bank St Max sticks out as someone we don’t need (unless anyone fancies a punt over Antonio on the first Sun), I reckon after a quiet summer TAA looks ripe for a good 30 points from those 3 games.

I'd second this if we're not going down the block defence route.Northernmonkey wrote: ↑29 Jul 2021, 19:53 All I’d say is with captains well covered and plenty of ££ in the bank St Max sticks out as someone we don’t need (unless anyone fancies a punt over Antonio on the first Sun), I reckon after a quiet summer TAA looks ripe for a good 30 points from those 3 games.

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Cheers Tpt, Nm, Johnners. All Good stuff.
I guess the question we need to address is whether we need so much cash in the bank, my thinking was having the option of Toney to Kane or even Kdb, if Ivan turns out sub par. A phoney Toney if you will.
I will put out the next draft in a week or so, when a lot of the fog should of dispersed, we'll then have the best part of a week to thrash out the final line-up. I'm still very much in listening mode so keep the quality insights coming.
NM, leaving the country to try and avoid giving me my annual tenner in side league is a bit extreme, don't you think ?

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Assuming Kane stays at Spurs until the Overhaul, I can see how some might want him as a captain in the second and third weeks, but if that's the case, there's always the option to switch from Salah after he's played Burnley on Saturday 21st.

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Hi all, hope you enjoyed the break (I was going to say summer, but the weather recently makes that seem a bit of a misnomer). I'll be back, though haven't looked at prices or anything yet. I might have the issue of updating the team from abroad again, but will be here for the set up so I'll work something out. Hope to find a bit of consistency this season. Good luck to all, and hopefully I'll be back with comments on the team in due course - but I'd have no issue running with a block initially if that was the general view.

Welcome back Bman
Johnners, yeah the Salah Kane option certainty opens up the possibility of a stonger starting line up.
Something along the lines of Saint maxim, soyancu, Raphi TAA, Dias, Ndidi 4.2 million difference though

Re: FISO ISO 2021-22
Like it.
Dias could still score well over the first three, despite those fixtures, and would give another possible captaincy option on the 28th, which I think is the trickiest one to call.
Considering Ndidi only played two thirds of last season, he scored a decent number of points. Always a good chance of bonuses, and cover on the 23rd too for Antonio's iffy hamstrings.

The league is warming up nicely with 8 in so far. If anyone’s lurking on here who’s not tried ISO before it’s free, fun and the main ISO league details are in the opening post. Newcomers are very welcome.
Also for anyone who fancies our £10 ISO side league I’ve just restarted this too.. winner 75% and second 25%.

Ah ok. I didn’t set a password so I assume it’s just the same as last year. I sent you a pm. If anyone else is keen for the tenner league I’ll do the same.
As for Grealish if we’ve got loads of spare cash yes, but we’ve got decent other captains those days so not worth £9m IMO. The Norwich fixture is tasty but Spurs/Arsenal not so much.
