Nice. Pugwash -9pts stays

While we’re here, what are people’s thoughts on changing the first weekend rule for the future? So long as there are no transfers until after the first day of fixtures, then it’s in all our interests to be able to make transfers (as Cpt Pugwash has just proven).

I think the rule is only there to check we’re all starting with the same team (which we did). I think it’s a legacy from original TFFO days when perhaps leagues weren’t updated daily, or teams weren’t so visible (I honestly can’t remember).

It's what I was thinking of when I checked the rules the other day.

Maybe sensible in future to say you have to keep each player for their first game (and the captain choices). So you could transfer Alisson out today, but for example you had to keep Moura as captain today (his first game) so wouldn't be allowed to switch the (C) to your incoming Ederson (should you have so wished)

I suspect Ederson scored 11 not 9.

Re any rule changes i'm happy to go with the flow.

All makes sense to me. As NM said, the nature of the game is to have us all start with the same team. But no sense penalising everyone in the process. Clearly we would all want to replace Alisson if he's ruled out for several weeks - and not doing so probably penalises us by several points (as much as 9-11 as per previous posts if Edersen were the chosen replacement). If, come the end of the season, any one of us happened to be in with a shout of winning it, then that would become hugely important and disadvantageous. I like Reds' suggestion for next season, and thanks for raising/thinking of it NM. Mind you, I'll likely be in md-table obscurity personally by then as per NM's earlier post.

Rashford was most welcome :), particularly in light of a pretty grim Saturday where the absence of Sterling and/or Kane, both hugely popular captain picks put us on the back foot.

Ederson as predicted did score 11 points, so its Captain -11 for the rest of the season :) .

Although the Alisson injury was unfortunate it may actually prove helpful in the short term for anyone looking for funds to restructure. Early days of course, but based solely on the weekend games the midfield is looking problematical.

Please remember everyone needs to check back in here during the overhaul where Nbbbee will again fulfil his obligation as reigning champion and again pick the team and captains (no pressure old son  ) for the final time. After which its a free for all. Worth remembering if there is a player you are desperate for Nbbbee to include its up to you to make a strong enough case for their inclusion.

I'm looking forward to seeing what changes people make. Good luck everyone :D

First transfers for me today to bring in Pickford and Pukki. Which was nice. Allison and Villa’s no show Jota making way.

Mo 2 pointer with the armband though

Our midfield is looking a bit ropey until the overhaul sadly. Moura benched tonight and not entirely confident in Barkley lining up tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Great move, that one didn't even occur to me but Pukki has two tricky matches coming up.
Moura was always a transfer waiting to happen when Son returned, did hope we might get two games out of him though before I transferred him out.
Was waiting to see what happened today before pulling the trigger on any transfers but three planned for the rest of the weekend. Will probably hold onto Barkley as he will get game time even if he doesn't start.

Pukki’s quality finish at Anfield was enough for me, and Norwich going forward create a lot. At the cheap end to replace Villa’s Jota he was the only decent choice I think.

Midfield not doing so bad after all, KDB returning to 2017 form and I’ll likely leave the rest now until the overhaul given Moura’s upcoming games - and his first touch as sub

Actually a pretty decent day for Nbbbee's alternatives, with KDB outscoring Sterling and Moura outscoring Kane  Although with the imminent return of Son I guess he slips a little further down the pecking order. :( .

Surprised to see how many went for Pickford over Ederson. I see a few still have Alisson, so interesting to see what they are planning.

My only plan keeping Alison was a slight hope they'd overplay his injury and he'd be back fit before the overhaul and I don't trust any to keep many clean sheets so wouldn't be gaining a lot over 3 zeroes... Ederson obviously did the very next day but there we go...

I'm planning to minimise transfers before the overhaul. If Nbbeee makes disagrees with any new picks I make (which is quite likely), then I only get 2-3 weeks' value for my transfer at this stage. Could perhaps reconsider this rule also next season? Ie last year's winner gets to pick the initial squad, we have to let each player play their first match, but after that we're free to fly? Happy as ever to go with the flow, just an idea.

Yes I agree there needs to be a discussion. I think we should probably have a little informal vote at the end of the season.

I quite like the current set up, but I would say that, as I'm going to win again. :P .

Too much bloody choice this weekend!

Salah/Rashford on Sat.. I’m on Salah at the mo.

So we all have KDB on Sun, or get in Sterling/Kane/Aguero for an extra game? KDB’s been pretty solid so far (8, 11), just not as explosive!

Northernmonkey streaking into an early lead.

I managed to not save Salah (C) on Saturday and so got stuck with Rashford's minus score. My other team had Pogba (C) for his penalty miss as well. Not what you call a flying start

Don't worry about Nm, he always flatters to deceive, its an iso tradition  .

Talking of captain woes. Digne, Rashford, Kane = 4 points combined

Nice to see all four original midfielders start.
