Were they Christmas shopping cancelations?

Post by RichardRoma »

It was very noticable that Div One saw 10 of its 11 games played whilst Div 2 managed to play just one of its 11 games yesterday. You wouldnt have thought the under soil heating and ground staff set up was much different in the two leagues. The only game played in Div Two was top placed Rochdales at home. I wonder if teams just didnt bother to get the games on and insured the games for this very weather/ Christmas shopping clash in the reccesion back in the summer. To back this up if you look at the only 6 games played in the important non-league games through the Conferance to the Ryman, they all involved team at home in the top three. Coincidence or is it worth the effort if your in the bottom half of the table to play on the final Christmas saturday, perhaps support for a winter break in the lower leagues? They clearly dont want to play. Maybe worth considering this gen when picking fantasy players for the lower leagues or when making bets...
