Blackburn Rovers supporters should cast an eye on Friday's quarter-final draw for the Champions League.

For tomorrow's draw in Nyon could affect the day that Rovers take on Tottenham Hotspur at Ewood Park next month.

This is because of Manchester United's continued involvement in the competition. If they are drawn to play their quarter-final 1st leg on Tuesday April 7th, then, due to television selections, our game against Spurs would move to Sunday 5th April, kick-off 4.00pm.

Should United be drawn to play on Wednesday April 8th, then the original date and kick-off time of the game against Tottenham of Saturday 4th April, 12.45pm will apply.

Euro furore

Post by SamD »

Possibly because Man Utd v A Villa is currently set for 16:00 Sun 5 April?

If United are drawn to play a Euro match on Tues 7 April, their match with AV could move to 12:45 Sat 4 April.
A direct swap would see BR-TH take over the 16:00 Sun 5 April slot.

Thus both Premier League games could still be broadcast on Sky Sports.

Get it now. Hadn't twigged that the match being discussed didn't actually feature United.

This is 99 % GUARANTEED to happen

Unless Man U Play Liverpool in Europe

Why ??

ITV always split up Liverpool and Man U on different days so they can
show both of them on ITV 1

As has been reported Liverpool will play Tuesday 14th April (So 1st Leg on Weds 8th)

So as a result Man U will play Tuesday 7th

And Blackburn will get moved

Yes, would also expect Fulham v Liverpool to move from 8pm on Mon 6 to 5:30pm, Sat 4 April.
This will enable Setanta to still provide live coverage.

None of these three changes is currently shown on the Premier League TV fixtures site:

So as a result of the Champions League draw the following SHOULD
happen

Sat 4 April
The 1245 game on Sky will be Villa at Old Trafford

The 1730 game will be Rafa resting all his players at the Cottage

Sun 5 April

The Spurs fans will have to change their tickets to get to Blackburn for 4pm

Interesting. The Fulham vs Liverpool match has been showing on the BBC fixture list as Saturday for over a week now. I know this because they are also showing it on the Monday as postponed, which screwed up the program that updates my fixture grid (though I've fixed it now).

Man City's Easter game has already been moved to Sun 12th

Their home game with West Brom will have to
move to Sunday 19th April

If they beat Hamburg :?: then
the games on Saturday 2nd v Blackburn
and 9th May at Old Trafford will have to move to Sunday games

And finally Arsenal's home game v Boro on Sunday 26th April
will not need to be changed as Arsenal's Semi First leg is on Weds 29th
April

This might be a dumb question... of the games currently scheduled for Saturday May 16th, is there any way of guessing which ones will be moved?

EDIT: And when will Sky/Setanta confirm it?

The 'when' is probably crucial.

If Liverpool (or whoever  ) have tied up the title by then the TV games may be relegation matches. But odds on it will Man U v Arsenal and probably Chelsea and Liverpool too (both against relegation candidates).

It's Everton v West Ham that has me worried. Potentially both playing for a place in Europe and I'm intending to go to the match (it's kind of a big deal when you're coming from Australia! :D ).

And I'm planning a bit of a social event on the Sunday... surely we'll find out the dates soon? Don't they know I've got a holiday to organise?

Grauniad confirm the club confirms it. "Sir Alex Ferguson is so concerned about Manchester United's sudden slump in form that he has been forced to gamble with a fixture rescheduling ..... he has now decided it is more important that those United players who will be away on international duty over the next week and a half have an extra day to prepare "

Has he not thought that those Villa players who will be away on international duty over the next week and a half have an extra day to prepare? It's madness.

Any update on this? I thought that there was a directive that 6 weeks notice had to be given for any fixture changes for games scheduled for TV? The games on May 2nd are only 4 weeks 2 days way now  It would certainly help fantasy managers out if they could pull their fingers out before this weekend :D

as they have already got Football League Play Offs

Setanta still have 5 games to pick

Sky still have 11 of their 92 to pick

That means Setanta will have 3 Saturday nights on May 2 9 and 16

One Monday night

And one on the Last Day

Sky will have 3 games on three weekends and only 2 on the other

Hmm, seems like ridiculously short notice. Do they not have an obligation to provide dates for changes within a fixed period i.e. at least 6 weeks in advance? (Or was I imagining that?!)

After protests from the Vicar of Aston church  , Aston Villa's game v Everton
on Easter Day will now kick off at 1400 and not 1330.

As a result Man City's kick off will now be at 1610 v Fulham

I think the Vicar wanted the match cancelled rather than moved by 30 minutes

If he was that concerned about getting home to do his transfers before kick off, could he have not moved his church service forward half an hour instead?
