And we now have Ars v New on Sky Mon Apr 1st

So Ars cant really play Wolves on the 2nd or 3rd

They COULD play it Sun Mar 31st at noon
BUT Sunderland may be coming down to Wembley at same time for EFL Trophy Final

Safer to leave it on Monday night...

Sam does that mean it will start on sat 10th or you think they’ll throw in a Friday night game like this season?

New season

Post by SamD »

Long answer* to query on live TV coverage over first weekend of 2019-20 season:

Current 'Package E' allows Sky to show 28 PL matches at Mon 20:00 (min 18) or Fri 19:30/20:00 (max 10):
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=127425&start=1
Live matches up to season 2018-19: 126 on Sky; 42 BT; total 168.

'Package E' in new broadcast deal from August 2019 gives Sky 32 matches:
24 on Mondays at 20:00 or Fridays at 19:30/20:00 and eight on Sundays at 14:00:
viewtopic.php?f=104&t=127425&start=5
Live matches from 2019-20: 128 on Sky; 52 BT; 20 Amazon; total 200.

This season, Sky and BT showed five matches between Fri and Sun over first weekend.
But with more options next time, including on Fridays, Sky may decide to beam a game on first Friday, 9 Aug.
And it's possible broadcasters may negotiate six live matches between that Fri and Mon.

* short answer: no one knows, yet.

So this would work ideally
EXCEPT
UEFA Dates
Tue Feb 18 CL Last 16 and EL last 32
Tue Feb 25 CL Last 16 and EL last 32

So where is this famous midweek for FA Cup Round 5

Surely it won't be as late as Tue Mar 3rd ??

One solution
Tue 28 Jan PL Midweek then Group 1 start Winter Break
Sat 01 Feb Group 2 play 5 PL Matches and then Group 2 start Winter Break
Sat 08 Feb Group 1 return and play 5 PL Matches
Wed 11 Feb All clubs return and potentially play FA Cup midweek
Sat 15 Feb All Clubs Play in PL

But the Winter Break is no longer 14 days

City would probably say they should play the game in between on the same day as Spurs but otherwise the dates have all fallen ok for the English clubs.

So the PL are hoping that a potential Liverpool v Man U (or any combination of Liverpool,Porto,Barca,Man U ) semi will be held on Wednesday 8th and not Tuesday 7th

And then Spurs can just swap slots with Man C if they manage to beat them in CL

Simple.......

If the Liv v Man U is the Tuesday CL SF, I guess they would move one of Liv/ManU to Sat 12:15 and the other to Sat 20:00? (with whomever wins in City v Spurs moving to Sunday 16:30 most likely)

I think they can go to UEFA and request that any match involving Liverpool or Man U must be the Weds that week after as they are playing Sunday

For the Quarters the UEFA dates all seemed to fit in nicely with pre announced TV games

The FA Cup final between Manchester City and Watford will kick off at 17:00 BST on 18 May.

This is earlier than in previous seasons

BBC have the Eurovision Song Contest on afterwards

We might as well enter Man City in that as well, give them a shot at a quintuple/sextuple (depending on whether or not you count the CS...) They’d have as much chance as whatever nonentity pop star we send to face the anger of Europe and Australia
