Strange that West Ham v Arsenal and Southampton v Chelsea are going to be on TV at 3pm. I'd imagine BT would have preferred an evening slot. Maybe the Met Police refused to allow a late kick off for the game at Upton Park. Also West Ham are due to play West Brom at 12:45pm on Saturday 28th so maybe they want more rest between games. Can't think of any reason for Southampton v Chelsea game.

I think the PL have also stated the kick off times in their bid document for Holidays

The League Clubs will be irate if they miss out on Holiday crowds because people are down the pub watching Arsenal or Chelsea !!

The Capital One Cup Fourth Round fixture between Sunderland and Southampton has been re-scheduled and will now be played on November 6th.

Strenuous representations were made to The Football League by Northumbria Police, relating to concerns around public safety in the wider region due to the games’ close proximity to the Wear-Tyne derby and Newcastle United’s fixture being scheduled on the same evening.

The League has therefore requested that the match at Sunderland is moved to the following week. The fixture will now be played on Wednesday 6th November, kick-off 7:45pm.

"All ties due to be played during the week commencing 16th December 2013.

There will be two live ties selected, one per night, on the 17th and 18th December."

Presumably Leicester v City will be on the Tuesday as both play on the preceding Saturday.
Ditto Sunderland, Southampton and Chelsea.

United will want their game on the Wednesday as they play Sunday.
Ditto Spurs.

Then the Leicester and Stoke games will be picked for tellibobs IMO.

Own tuppenceworth is that February 2014 TV fixtures will be made known any day now:
  • - Feb 2013 games were announced on Tues 4 Dec 2012

    - Feb 2012 equivalent was published on Fri 2 Dec 2011
Would also wager Man City v Chelsea is rescheduled by Sky to 4pm, Sun 2 Feb.

Why can't they just play them the other way round anyway? At least then supporters would know which day to keep free. Granted the argument about Man U fans booking train tickets doesn't mean much as they all come from Surrey anyway.

lifted from NUFC.com
The failure of ITV and BT to select either the Newcastle versus Cardiff City or the mackems versus Carlisle United ties means that theoretically at least, both home sides would host matches with 3pm KOs on Sat 04.01.2014.

However the policing implications of that mean that in practice one of the ties will need to be rescheduled, as was the case back in October for the Capital One Cup.

On that occasion Newcastle faced Manchester City at SJP on the original round date, but the red and whites were forced to host Southampton some days later.

A similar situation has now arisen and the matter is with the FA, both United and the mackems having requested a Sat 3pm KO on 04.01.2014.

To further complicate things, were the mackems to overcome Chelsea on wearside in the Capital One Cup Quarter Final next Tuesday, they would be looking at playing a Semi-Final tie in the w/c Mon 06.01.2014.

Quotes the Carlisle United press officer suggest that a final decision won't be made until the result of next Tuesday's tie is known.

Does the Newcastle public relations office have an irrational fear of referring to Sunderland as Sunderland?

nufc.com is the supporters unoffical site. nufc.co.uk is the offical club site. the unoffical one is far superior....

Anyone* know when the COC SF dates will be announced?

I'm expecting City v West Ham to be Tues 7th Jan and the other tie on Weds 8th, due to the way the televised FA Cup fixtures fall the weekend before. But TV companies have been known to force an abandonment of common sense.

Not quite so obvious for the return legs but the same pattern for Tuesday 21st/Wednesday 22nd would be the best fit.

Sunderland will host Man United on Tuesday, January 7 (kick-off 7.45pm) in the first leg.

But that comes only two days after Sunderland host Carlisle in the FA Cup third round, with Man United hosting Swansea on the Sunday too.

The second leg at Old Trafford will take place on Wednesday, January 22.
======================================
The first leg does make sense as BOTH teams play Sunday ??

Supporters should note Liverpool's home date with Swansea City at Anfield has been moved to Sunday, February 23, 2014, and will kick-off at 1.30pm GMT.

This replaces the original date of Saturday, February 22, and the change is because of Michael Laudrup's side facing Napoli in the Europa League a couple of days earlier.

Date was predictable but chosen time could be relevant in TFF etc
