Looks to have been a mistake; formatting of FAQs has a large gap ready for details of prize structure to be inserted - which was never done - and surrounding text makes reference to tiebreaks down to 10th place (copy and pasted as is much of the blurb, over and over again from previous competitions), see attached image from the guildelines in FAQs, section 8d. We may never know for sure, but if the new season game has a prize structure similar to previous seasons with prizes down to say 5th or 10th, then it might be assumed that this "winner takes all" prize was thanks to copy not being checked, and rushed out slapdash.

Yes it talks as if there is 10 places but then says its 1st place only, ended up in 9th but not holding out much hope.

Indeed - blurb for next season already saying £75k top prize, and £25k split between runners-up. 52nd for me this time, I needed more italian clean sheets (that isn't a euphemism).
