The Champions League is back – and so is FanTeam’s flagship UCL fantasy contest. With the new League Phase format kicking off on Tuesday 16th September 2025, fantasy managers will battle it out over 8 gameweeks for glory – and with a £25,000 guaranteed prize pool on the line, it’s time to put your European football knowledge to the test.
Game Format & Rules
- Budget: You’ll have 110m to build your 15-man squad.
- Squad composition: 2 Goalkeepers, 5 Defenders, 5 Midfielders, 3 Forwards (plus 4 subs).
- Team stacking: Maximum of 3 players from any one UCL club.
- Transfers: 2 free transfers each gameweek (extra transfers cost -4 points). Unlimited changes allowed until the GW1 deadline on Sept 16th.
- Carryover: Unused free transfers roll over, and there’s no cap on how many can be saved.
- Wildcard: 1 wildcard available, usable at any time for unlimited transfers.
- Captain & Vice-Captain: Captain scores double, vice-captain takes over if the captain doesn’t play.
- Revertible Transfers: Provisional until gameweek start.
- Safety Net: Not active for this tournament.
- Entry: £20 per team, maximum of 5 entries per customer.
Scoring System Highlights
- Goals: GK (+8), DEF (+6), MID (+5), FWD (+4).
- Clean sheets: GK/DEF (+4), MID (+1).
- Assists / Fantasy assists: +3.
- Saves: +0.5 each. Penalty save (+5).
- Shots on Target: GK (+1), DEF (+0.6), MID/FWD (+0.4).
- Team performance: “Wins” while on pitch (+0.3), “Losses” while on pitch (-0.3).
- Penalties: Miss (-2), Conceded (-2).
- Cards & Errors: Yellow (-1), Red (-3), Own Goal (-2), Foul leading to scored free kick (-2).
The scoring system ensures plenty of ways to rack up points – not just through goals, but also for proactive defensive and midfield contributions.
The Prize Pool
The contest guarantees a £25,000 prize pool, with payouts extending across multiple places. The prize fund will also grow if entries surpass the guarantee, making it one of the most exciting ways to follow the Champions League League Phase.
