Snooker League update - Reviewed by Joe Ciampa and Sam David Season of shocksThe snooker year has started with a bang!
Rank outsider, Chris Small, surprised everyone by taking the LG Cup title
in October, defeating the likes of John Higgins and Ronnie O’Sullivan along
the way. Chris also managed to
reach the semi-final of the British Open in November, before losing to Paul
Hunter, the eventual winner. As a
result, both Chris and Paul have been racking up the fantasy points.
The top dozen scorers are: INFO OMITTED FROM WEB COPY With four ranking events to go and a large number of jokers still to be played, there are many opportunities to turn the overall league table on its head. Hami Tadbiri enjoys the top spot for now. Congratulations also go to
Keith Tomlinson, whose team was the top scorer (excluding bonuses) in the LG Cup
and well done to Glenn Doman, who came top in the British Open. Fantasysnookerleague.com is currently working on enhancements
to the game. These include the possible inclusion of mid season team
entry, transfers and mini-leagues. More
information about these improvements will be posted on the website, FISO forum
and in future issues of this newsletter. 9. FISO member, Steve Legg,
wins the first mini-season of the FreeFantasyFootball.tv game! Copy of Press Release from
FreeFantasyFootball.tv: 'Swindon Town Fan Beats 60,000 Fantasy Football ManagersTo
Become Number 1! Local
Swindon Town football fan, Steve Legg, has won himself £5,000 and the
prestigious title of the best Free Fantasy Football manager in the land. Legg of Covingham, Swindon, fought off stiff
competition to win the 1st Mini-Season title to win the www.freefantasyfootball.tv
game, competing against 60,000 other managers to win the cash prize. The free fantasy football game has three parts
to the season; mini-season 1 (Aug – Nov), mini-season 2 (Nov – Feb) and
mini-season 3 (Feb – May), which gives aspiring managers three chances to win
throughout the football season. There
is also an overall season winner, of which Steve Legg is currently leading. “The extraordinary thing about Steve’s win,
was his domination of the table”, explains Jon Trigg, of www.freefantasyfootball.tv
, “He has four teams in the tournament and three of his teams came in first,
second and third”, adds Trigg. The
odds of Steve Legg’s three teams, named S.A.L 1, S.AL 2 and S.A.L 3, coming
top of the league after the first mini-season would work out at least 90,000-1. With Swindon Town languishing mid-table in
Division 2 it may be reassuring for the clubs directors to know that they have
managerial talent sitting on their doorstep.
More importantly Steve Legg is not the only Town talent out there.
Currently Swindon Town fans are proving to be the best fantasy football
managers in Division 2. As for the man who has dominated fantasy
football over the last three months, Steve Legg remains as laid back as Sven
Goran-Eriksson. Commenting on his
football windfall " It feels great to win this competition from www.freefantasyfootball.tv
and the prize money will certainly help with Christmas approaching!" ' The game, www.freefantasyfootball.tv
, was set up by fantasy fanatics just over two years ago. Currently there are 60,000 players from around the globe that
play the game for up to £40,000 worth of prizes. 10. Fantasy National Hunt Racing
from FSUK FSUK currently have a Fantasy Stable
(National Hunt) competition open for entry, the deadline for entry is 12:00 GMT
30 November 2002. This is their first horse racing competition to go live,
therefore they have done very little in the way of marketing, and in many
respects are using this competition as a test run for their later Fantasy Racing
(Flat) competition which should be more heavily marketed. For the NH competition FSUK are only
expecting about 500 entries; in the first 10 days that the competition was open
for entry about 300 entries were received (up to 22 November).
According to FSUK, there is a total guaranteed prize fund of £10,000 including
monthly prizes. Entry cost is £10, including your transfer fee. 11. The Andy Luckhurst Horseracing
Corner. I'm pleased to provide the odd racing tip
for FISO members. I'll give a rating to the bet with 5/10 being average. You can

The Bookies part of the FISO forum. Today's report: 'Well at present my ante post portfolio
consists of: Hussard Collonges @ 14/1 e/w for the
Hennessy, Moscow Flyer @ 9/2 for the Champion Chase, Bacchanal @ 33/1 Gold Cup, Rooster Booster @ 12/1 Champion Hurdle, Spectrometer @ 40/1 e/w Triumph Hurdle, Statue of Liberty @ 16/1 2000 Guineas. Unfortunately the timing of newsletters
makes it difficult to pass on full value, but Hussard Collonges @ 10/1 (general)
(1point e/w) for the Hennessy seems a fair bet, as barring injury he is certain
to run next week and is a good jumper and will act on soft and stays well.' Andy. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
