Fantasy League F1
Fantasy League F1 is back for 2006 with over £20,000 in fantastic
prizes to be won throughout the season!

As boss of your very own F1 team armed with a budget of $60 million,
your challenge is to select a team of six drivers, one engine and
one set of tyres to accrue points to win fantastic prizes in the
numerous prize competitions on offer.

The season starts in style on 12th March with a two-race Warm-Up
competition covering the Bahrain and Malaysian GPs - The winner of
which receives a 4-day trip for two to this season's European Grand

year's San Marino Grand Prix up for grabs to the Main Championship

Pro Fantasy F1
1st 2 races are practice races. Points scored from 1 April. 1 team
costs £5 and 3 teams £10.

Transfer amnesty until 21.00GMT on 31st March 2006.

3 transfers each race throughout the season. All Transfers must be
completed before 21:00GMT of the Friday before Race Day to
score/lose points for the forthcoming qualifying days and race.

Picking a Team

You have a total budget of £50 million to choose a team comprising
of the following:

3 x Drivers 1 x Constructor 1 x Engine

You also need to select a Bonus Circuit - you will receive double
points for your Bonus Circuit.
How to Score and Lose Points
Drivers:

i. Qualifying:
This season the qualifying format has changed to 3 elimination
qualifying sessions taking place on the Saturday prior to the race.
The qualifying session determines who will start where on the
starting grid of the actual race. The last six positions will be
occupied by the cars eliminated during the first period of
qualifying, the fastest in the 17th position. The next six positions
will be occupied by the cars eliminated during the second period of
qualifying, the fastest in 11th position. The top 10 positions will
be occupied by the cars which took part in the third period of
qualifying, the fastest starting from pole position.

The driver who completes the fastest lap in the 3rd qualifying
round, and takes pole position will receive +5 points.

Each driver will generate +/- 2 points for each position gained/lost
between their finishing position of the previous race and the final
qualifying position of the current race.

For example: If Mark Webber qualifies for the Monaco GP in pole
position, and finished 3rd in the previous (Spanish GP) he will have
improved 2 places and gained 4 points.

If a driver is penalised after qualifying, and is forced to start
further back on the grid, he will score fantasy points based on his
qualifying time. For example, if Ralf Schumacher qualifies with the
fastest time, but is forced to start at 5th on the grid due to an
enforced penalty he will still score +5 points for driving the
fastest qualifying lap.

If two or more drivers set identical qualifying times during any of
the three qualifying sessions, their starting positions will be
based on who set the time first. In this instance, fantasy points
will be based on the position the driver starts on the grid.

ii. The Race:

Each Driver will be awarded +1 point for each lap completed in the
race.

Each driver will generate +5 points for every position gained from
their starting position on the grid to their final placing. Drivers
will not lose points for losing places between the starting grid and
end of the race.

Example 1: Nico Rosberg starts the race in 5th on the starting grid
- and finishes 1st in a race. He has moved up 4 places so will gain
20 points.

Example 2: Michael Schumacher qualifies for pole position after, but
has to change engines and so is penalised 10 places on the grid -
and finishes 2nd in a race. He has moved up 8 places from his
starting position, so will gain 40 points.

If a driver does not gain / lose any places from starting grid to
race finish he will be awarded +5 points.

Drivers that finish the race in the top 8 positions will score
points as follows; 1st - 10 points 2nd - 8 points 3rd - 6 points 4th
- 5 points 5th - 4 points 6th - 3 points 7th - 2 points 8th - 1
point

Constructor:

Each Constructor has at least 2 cars - each player will be awarded
points based on both cars:

+15 points for both cars finishing the race
+5 points for only one car finishing the race

Additional +5 points per car for finishing in the top 8 cars in the
race.

Engines:

You need to choose one engine.

+10 points for each car with your chosen engine finishing anywhere
in the top 3 positions in the race.

For example, If the top 3 are; Ferrari [Ferrari], Mercedes
[McLaren], Ford [Jordan] - then the Ferrari, Mercedes and Ford each
score 10 points.
If the top 3 are; Ferrari, Ferrari, Mercedes - then Ferrari score 20
points, Mercedes score 10 points.

Additional Points:

Bonus Circuit

You will be asked to select one of the 18 race circuits as your
'Bonus Circuit' when you choose your team (or the Lucky Dip will
pick a Bonus Circuit for you). This cant be changed during the
season.

Any points you score at your Bonus Circuit will be DOUBLED

Prizes:

1st place:

David Tonkin's Monthly Premiership Review - March 2006
Into the business end of the season, most teams have 11 league games
left to play and some might have 9 or 10 cup games on top of that.
Chelsea appear to be coasting towards retaining their title, Man U
and Liverpool should slug it out for 2nd and 3rd, there are 6 teams
in with a realistic shot at the 4th CL spot (not much use to the
other 5 if Arsenal win the CL) and it's between West Brom and
Birmingham to go down with Portsmouth and Sunderland. A lot of
players will be involved in internationals before the domestic games
get underway, a lot of potential for those MotM plans to get blown
out of the water before they have a chance to get going.

Chelsea 69 +38 (dWlW) - West Brom (a) Barcelona (CL-a) Spurs (h)
Fulham (a) Newcastle (FA6-h) Man C (h) CL QF(?)
Aren't you just sick of hearing that "winning games whilst not
playing well is the mark of Champions"? I know that I am and I'm a
Chelsea fan! All the league games look to be there for the taking,
with Spurs having the honour of the first game on a newly relaid
pitch, Newcastle don't usually cause too much trouble at SB but cup
games are cup games and there's the small matter of having to score
at least twice in the Camp Neu to stay in the CL, first QF leg at
the end of the month for those that make it. The first 2 CSs of 2006
were gained at SB during February, the 2nd away defeat of the
season, the 0-3 scoreline matching JM's previous worst results in
management and the 3rd home loss in 56 European ties.

Man U 54 +25 (lWw) - Wigan (a) Newcastle (h) West Brom (a)
Birmingham (h) West Ham (h)
The first trophy for the new owners has been won but arguments will
rage as to whether it's a "major" trophy or not (surely ) No other
cup games to bother players orit must be as we won it last
season?  fans this season, they've just the league to concentrate
on, which might turn out to be to their advantage in attempting to
secure 2nd place and automatic entry to next seasons CL group stage.
All 5 are clearly winnable but the two Midlands clubs are fighting
for every point and are the sort of games that have cost United
points in the past. Their latest away (win at Portsmouth) broke a
run of 5 EPL away fixtures without a win and they're on a run of 7
home wins in all comps., 5 of them in the league. Just the 2 EPL CSs
so far in 2006, one home and the other at Highbury.

Liverpool 54 +16 (DllwWW) - Charlton (h) Benfica (CL-h) Arsenal (a)
Newcastle (a) Birmingham (FA6-a) Everton (h) CL QF(?)
4 more league games played than Man U during February but only 4
points gained on them to be sitting third on GD. Birmingham stopped
their run of 8 home wins and 8 home CSs (EPL) at the start of
February, but normal service has been resumed in their last 2. Just
one win and 1 draw from their last 5 EPL aways has effectively
killed off any title aspirations and prevented them sitting in a
comfortable 2nd place. A tricky month ahead with trips to Highbury
and St. James' Park, the visit from the blue half of Liverpool and a
potentially tight affair trying to overturn Benfica's first leg
lead, if they conceded one then they'll have to score 3, not
something you'd put money on from their front line.

Spurs 46 +13 (WdD) - Blackburn (h) Chelsea (a) Birmingham (a) West
Brom (h)
Their ability to concede continues, drawing 2 games that they should
have won during February but they're still holding that 4th spot at
the moment. A tough month ahead with Blackburn looking to join them
on points, a trip to SB and then the two teams at the bottom who'll
be scrapping for every point. Still just the one early season home
loss at 3 point lane but 2 draws from their 3 homes played in 2006
and just the one win from their last 6 aways.

Blackburn 43 +3 (WllWW) - Spurs (a) Villa (h) Middlesbrough (h)
Sunderland (a)
They've moved nicely into 5th and look a decent bet to take at least
a UC spot, very solid at home with 16 points gained from the 6 games
they've played at Ewood since the turn of the year (3 CSs) but have
lost to nil in their last 2 aways. The Spurs game looks to be one of
those "6 pointer" thingies, a win for either side being an excellent
boost in their quest for CL qualification, the other 3 matches are
against sides with nothing much to play for and their opponents
might not be that interested in physical battles.

Bolton 42 +8 (dDdW) - Newcastle (a) West Ham (h) West Ham (FA5r-a)
Sunderland (h) Villa/ Man C (FA6-a) Middlesbrough (a)
Another decent month apart from the og that meant their UC exit,
which has it's plus side in that their 2 outstanding postponements
should find dates soon, a midweek at the end of the month is
possible for the Birmingham match, so keep an eye on the fixture
changes thread, as Middlesbrough are still in the UC their match is
unlikely before the final couple of weeks of the season. A lot of
draws recently (7 of the 12 competitive matches played in 2006) says
that they are difficult to beat but not putting away many chances
themselves, something that could well trip them up and cost them
both league points and progression in the FA Cup.

Arsenal 41 +17 (LwDll) - Fulham (a) Real Madrid (CL-h) Liverpool (h)
Charlton (h) Portsmouth (a) CL QF(?)
Their first EPL away win of the season was followed by 2 more
defeats to nil, with the CL victory at the Bernabeu sandwiched
between them and just one point from the 2 home matches in February.
4th spot is still within reach but they need to put a sequence of
wins together, something that they'll always be capable of doing
with Henry in the side but none of these look easy, even the trip to
Portsmouth! Fulham are a tough proposition at Craven Cottage and
with the focus likely to be on the 2nd leg against Real more points
could be lost.

West Ham 41 +5 (Www) - Everton (h) Bolton (a) Bolton (FA5r-h)
Portsmouth (h) Villa/ Man C (FA6-a) Wigan (a) Man U (a)
7 straight wins in all comps before their Cup draw at Bolton
followed by a long break due to scheduled opponents having other cup
commitments so they should be very fresh for Everton's visit.
Current form says that they're a match for just about anyone,
confidence is high so the run could well continue and push them even
closer to (or even into) the top 4.

Wigan 40 -2 (dLd) - Man U (h) Sunderland (a) Man C (a) West Ham (h)
They do seem to have run out of steam as the season has progressed,
just the one league win so far in 2006 and no CSs since December,
perhaps some focus was lost due to reaching the CC final, we'll soon
find out with a team at the top and a team at the bottom in their
next 2 matches.

Man C 37 +5 (WlWl) - Sunderland (h) Portsmouth (a) Villa (FA5r-h)
Wigan (h) Bolton/ West Ham (FA6-h) Chelsea (a)
Home form is okay, away form is terrible, not going to make it into
Europe, not going to get relegated, Barton has reached 10 yellows
for the season, focus on the Cup?

Newcastle 36 -3 (lWwDW) - Bolton (h) Man U (a) Liverpool (h) Chelsea
(FA6-a) Charlton (a)
The results since Souness got the sack prove that he shouldn't have
been given the job in the first place, still lots of players out
with injuries but clearly something has changed for the better. A
very tough month ahead, capable of upsetting at least one of those
heading for next season's CL. Another football cliché - revitalized.

Everton 36 -15 (WWl) - West Ham (a) Fulham (h) Villa (h) Liverpool
(a)
The loss at Newcastle ended a nice little run of 19 points from
their previous 7 games (4 of them CSs) and they should be
comfortably safe now, the home matches look good chances for wins,
the away matches are against sides that'll want the points more.

Charlton 35 -5 (lWldD) - Liverpool (a) Middlesbrough (h) Arsenal (a)
Middlesbrough (FA6-h) Newcastle (h)
Still no away wins since October and unbeaten in their last 5 homes,
looks likely to continue but maybe with a few draws.

Fulham 32 -2 (lWl) - Arsenal (h) Everton (a) Chelsea (h) Villa (a)
Unbeaten at home since the begining of October, they'll be doing
well if they can still say that after the 2 derby matches, away form
is abysmal but improving on their total of 3 points for the season
is possible.

Aston Villa 31 -3 (DwLd) - Portsmouth (h) Blackburn (a) Man C
(FA5r-a) Everton (a) Bolton/ West Ham (FA6-h) Fulham (h)
Surprisingly (to me anyway) they haven't lost away since October (3W
5D) but have only managed 2 home wins in the same period (2D 4L),
none in 2006 so far. Both runs look likely to change, but you never
know .......

Middlesbrough 31 -9 (LWw) - Birmingham (h) Roma (UC-h) Charlton (a)
Roma (UC-a) Blackburn (a) Charlton (FA6-a) Bolton (h) UC QF(?)
Not including pre-season qualifiers they've played joint most
competitive matches so far this season, along with Man U 42 have
been played so far but as they're still in 2 cup competitions they
could still have 22 games to fit in before it's all over, cup double
and relegation anyone? 4 consecutive away wins in all comps (just
one EPL) nothing particularly noticable about their recent home form
(apart from the 3-0 win over Chelsea of course). With JFH and the
Yak goals and wins are possible anywhere, but so are big losses,
given their lowly league position and negative goal difference it's
still tempting to include Queudrue and maybe another defender or two
here and there.

West Brom 26 -16 (WlL) - Chelsea (h) Birmingham (a) Man U (h) Spurs
(a)
Clearly the big game is the 6 pointer derby match and going on
previous team selections players could well be rested for the trip
to SB in preparation, whether it does any good or not is another
matter. They deserve zero points and doubling their negative goal
difference but you just know that they'll get something somewhere,
maybe even enough to close up on Middlesbrough!

Birmingham 23 -15 (dLlW) - Middlesbrough (a) West Brom (h) Spurs (h)
Liverpool (FA6-h) Man U (a)
Creeping closer to West Brom, everything else being equal the should
go above them on GD if they can beat them, the only other game that
could be worth a point is if Spurs defence continue with their
generosity.

Portsmouth 18 -29 (DlLl) - Villa (a) Man C (h) West Ham (a) Arsenal
(h)
1 point and 3 goals in 2006, bye bye!

Sunderland 10 -31 (lDll) - Man C (a) Wigan (h) Bolton (a) Blackburn
(h)
Might stop somebody getting a CS.
