Sun DreamTeam 2004/05

Sun DreamTeam attracted just over 400,000 entries last year and,

having upped the prizes and improved their website, it will be

interesting to see if they can break the 500,000 barrier this year.

The Sun keep it simple by asking you to pick 11 players with a £40m

budget. It costs £5 per team and there are £300,000 of prizes

including a massive £125,000 1st prize. There are just 2 transfer

windows during the year (max 3 players swapped) at cost of £1.50 per

window. The Sun's scoring system includes their own player

match-performance rating and star man points (based on The Sun's

reporters viewing of matches) which provides an 'arguable' twist to

the game.

The Times 'TheFantasyGame'

The Times' TheFantasyGame (TFG) underwent a complete revamp last

year and their 2004/05 offering consolidates on that revamp. We see

an improved website and the new challenge of selecting a Manager who

cannot be transferred. Again it is £10 per entry with £100,000 of

prizes on offer.

The players are taken from the EPL teams plus Rangers & Celtic and

matches involving the following count:

English Premiership, Scottish Premier League; Carling Cup, CIS Cup;

FA Cup, Scottish FA Cup; Uefa Cup and Champions League.

You have a £55m budget for 11 players plus a manager. There are 24

transfers (max 2 per week and 12 per half-a-season) and a transfer

amnesty until midnight Wed 11 August is in operation. Transfers must

be done by midnight Thursday of each week.

Guardian Fantasy Football Chairman

The Guardian's Fantasy Football Chairman is a brand new game run by

Fantasy League Ltd and promoted in the Guardian. The game is a

stockmarket-type game in that the value of your players rise or

decrease based on their real-life performance and demand from other

Chairmen. The Chairman with the highest valued team at the end of

the season wins the £10,000 first prize. You have up to 100

transfers for the season and it costs just £5 to play. If you fancy

yourself as a 'wheeler dealer' then this is the game for you because

how you do in the transfer market will determine how far up the

leaderboard you rise.

Yahoo! Fantasy Football

Yahoo! Fantasy Football returns with its popular free to play game.

Yahoo!'s game is a stockmarket-type game where player values

fluctuate depending on performance and demand. There are no prizes

(well it is free to play!). Scoring changes this year:

Goals are worth 5 (plus 3 for a shot on target) instead of 8 and

defenders get a 5 point clean sheet bonus.

PremierLeague.com Fantasy Football

The Premier League's official game is another stockmarket type game

where player values fluctuate. The game is still free to play and

offers you the chance to win an all expenses paid VIP trip to a

Barclays Premiership match featuring a team of your choice.

Unlimited transfers make dipping into the transfer market very

tempting but don't over do it because excessive transfers will cost

you points.
