Check out the latest news on our Fantasy Sports forums! http://www.fiso.co.uk/forum/philboard_latest.asp TELEGRAPH FANTASY CRICKET (TFC) 2003 TELEGRAPH FANTASY CRICKET (TFC) 2003 - Reviewed by Sam David Provider: Daily Telegraph, with GFM Services Website: http://www.fantasycricket.telegraph.co.uk Summary - Telegraph Fantasy Cricket is split into two separate leagues this season - the Test & County League and the One-Day League. - With your one entry you can choose one team to compete in both leagues or select a separate team for each league. - Your must pick 4 batsmen, 1 wicket keeper, 2 all-rounders and 4 bowlers whose total player rating EXCEEDS 40. - The object of the game is for each of your teams to accumulate the highest fantasy points total in either individual league. - The cricketers you select will earn fantasy points based on their performances during the 2003 English domestic cricket season. - Entry costs £5 and there is a prize of £10,000 for winning either individual league. - The closing date for online registration is 10am on Sunday 18 May. How To Play - Details This year, Telegraph Fantasy Cricket (TFC) gives you the opportunity to manage two teams for a single fee of £5. There are two separate leagues - for One-Day matches and for Test & County fixtures. Both teams use the same selection criteria: - choose 11 different players from the list provided - FOUR batsmen (five last year), ONE wicket keeper, TWO all-rounders (one in 2002) and FOUR bowlers. Each player is rated between 1 and 9 (1 being the best) and the total rating of your team must be 41 or more. There is no restriction on the number of players you may pick from any one county or country. Choose one of your eleven players to be your captain; this player will score double points throughout the season. Alternatively, you can click the Auto Team Select box if you want to be involved but not pick your own team. If you are selecting two individual teams then you need to create a name for each team. Entry deadline The closing date for registrations to score from the first round of matches is first post on Sat, May 17 or, if entering online, 10am GMT on Sun, May 18. Scoring Points There is a separate scoring system for the Test & County League and the One-Day League. Points are awarded for each player's performances on the field of play. The more runs, wickets and catches they make and take, the higher the points they will receive. Player points and leaderboards will be printed in The Daily Telegraph every Friday from May 23 until the end of the season. Selectors may also view their individual and Super League scores and positions online from May 23 until the end of the season, updated every Friday. For the Test & County League, your team will score points in all County Championship and Test Matches. For the One-Day League, your team will score points in all National League, Twenty20, C&G Cup, Natwest Series and Natwest Challenge matches. Points are doubled for Test matches and one-day internationals, plus domestic semi-finals and finals. Transfers Twelve per team. Once your initial XI has been officially confirmed, it cannot be changed BEFORE the start of the TFC season. The only way to modify a team thereafter is by making transfers. These may be used at any time during the season from Monday 26 May up to Monday 15 September. You can make 12 changes to both your One-Day and to your Test & County League teams. An additional four changes can also be made to your choice of captain for each team - the Captain scores double points. Transfers come into effect on a weekly basis. All transfers made up to midnight on Monday each week become effective on the following Tuesday. Entry Fee: Five pounds for a pair of teams. You can enter as many teams as you like. Prizes £30,000 in total. The One-Day champion (the highest points scorer in the One-Day league) will win £10,000. The second and third placed selectors will win £1,000 and £500 respectively. Likewise, the top three in the Test & County League will win £10,000, £1,000 and £500 respectively. There are special prizes each week for the selectors in each separate league who score the highest amount of points. Overall winners' names will be published in the Telegraph on Friday 26 September. Mini league option Super Leagues (SL) give you the opportunity to compete against friends or colleagues in your own private leagues. There are no Super League prizes this year. A minimum of five team selectors must join. Each fortnight, the chairman will receive a breakdown of the league's performance by post or weekly via e-mail. Once a selector has joined a Super League it is not possible for that entry to be moved into another Super League. FISO SL options This season, FISO will operate two super leagues. The general one offers unlimited entry: FANTASYCRICKET@FISO.CO.UK S/L number: 8000082 For an extra competition, FISO readers can also submit ONE team each to: League Name: ONETEAM@FISO.CO.UK League PIN: 8000167 See this FISO forum link for more news on the FISO Super League - http://www.fiso.co.uk/forum/philboard_read.asp?id=3170 There's still plenty of time to decide on your Telegraph cricket selections. Note that once your team has been officially confirmed back to you it cannot be changed BEFORE the start of the TFC season. I'll give a rating to the bet with 5/10 being average. Today's report: Well hopefully we have 25/1 Refuse To Bend for the Derby. My long term fancy for the Oaks has always been Echoes In Eternity. The Guineas meeting threw up no outstanding candidate like Kazzia last year in my humble opinion. Whilst I did have £300 on the current favourite Hi Dubai in the Pretty Polly and she did quicken well. I was not overly impressed and the Guineas produced no outstanding candidate unlike last year. Echoes In Eternity has been well backed the last couple of days and goes for the Musidora at York, I stepped in @ 16/1 today and hope you can still get 14/1 somewhere - not a rock solid bet but the sort of gut feel bet that Striker really likes !! Be Lucky, Andy. |
